Our Health is Important: Goodbye Germs
Funded Nov 29, 2023Thank you for your generous donation! Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. The hand sanitizer will go a long way in ensuring that our students stay healthy and in school. Your donation will also ensure that teachers and other staff members no longer have to purchase hand sanitizer out of their own pockets. Again, I thank you for your generous donation.”

Funded Jan 1, 2018Let me first begin by saying THANK YOU for your generous donation of sets of books on CDs. As a student, I remember being introduced to great stories by my classroom teachers and still remember many of those titles to this day. As a teacher of young students, I want the same thing for my students. I want my students to leave my classroom with various titles of books that they will remember, love, and cherish for a lifetime. In addition to building a love for great literature, I am also working on important reading skills with these books. One important skill we are working on is fluency. Young readers build their reading fluency by listening to fluent reading. Additionally, we are working on retelling. After listening and reading the stories, we discuss, in detail, the important events that happened in the stories and the order the events happened.
In my classroom, two hours of the school day is devoted to the teaching of reading. Thirty minutes of this time is spent in a block of time we call "shared reading." Shared reading involves the explicit teaching and modeling of fundamental reading skills through the use of authentic literature. The remaining time is spent in leveled, guided reading groups. Students are grouped based on their reading needs and instructed accordingly.
All of my students are enjoying the book sets in different ways. While some enjoy listening to the stories, I have some students that have set goals to READ those books independently! Again, I sincerely thank you for your generous donation to my students and classroom!”

Ms. Montoya

Funded Jun 9, 2015I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your generous donation of life vests for my classroom. My students used them to participate in swimming and swimming lessons offered to them at no cost due to your donation of life vests. They were excited to learn that the entire class would be able to participate in this extraordinary opportunity.
When the three large boxes were delivered, a hush fell over the classroom. I shared with them my plan to share our project on the website, but I did not share the news that our project was funded. I wanted that to be a surprise. As I opened the boxes and the students realized what was in them, their excitement could not be contained! I even had a few students in tears.
I am currently working on a project that will provide materials to make reading more hands-on for my students. These materials will be used in school, and I would like for the students to have a set to use at home. Again, I sincerely THANK YOU for your generous donation. You have truly made a difference in the lives of children!”
