Future Readers and Mathamaticians

Funded Oct 12, 2016

My students and I are using the new resources each and every time we are working in (reading/math) centers. We have been working with the numbers 0 to 5 for the last few weeks and the students love using the manipulatives since we received them. They love drawing counters/circles on the write and wipe boards to match the numbers they pull out of a bag (0-5). They also love working in groups of 4 when using the Early Math Instant Learning Centers.

My students were super excited when they first saw all of the huge boxes that arrived into our classroom. They even wanted to help me open them up. Every time I pulled something out of the box they were so excited and kept saying, "Oh! Aww!!" I told them that we would use the materials every chance we get. We started using the Classic Birch Tabletop Communication Center the very next day upon arrival and unpacking of it.

My students will get a chance to use the Level A-C Nonfiction Extra Book Sets once we begin the Nonfiction Unit in our Reading and Writing Workshop. I can't wait to see the excitement on their faces once they are able to show off their reading and writing skills. They will be able to read, recognize and write their sight words that we have started teaching them since the first day of school, thanks to each and every donor that has contributed to this project.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Martinez
