With Supplies Come Great Surprise!
Funded Nov 21, 2017Thank you so much again for all of your generous donations. The moment the items arrived my students could not stop raving about them.
Of course, the legos and magnetic tiles are the biggest hits. During centers, these two stations always fill up first. When students are unable to get to these centers they are always sad. They love building new creations with one another using these very engaging toys. I didn't realize how big of a hit they would be that I now am thinking of what I can get them next.
The printer is used everyday. Every time I print something a student will be the first one to get the papers from the tray. They love seeing what I print out for them. It is also a special hit to those students who at the end of the day receive a coloring page or activity of their choice. It makes it so convenient to be able to print it for them right away without leaving my classroom.
Every single item we received could not be more appreciated. We use and love them all.”

Mission: Independent Learner Part 2
Funded Jan 7, 2016First, my students and I would like to thank everyone for their generous donations. My vision of creating independent learners has finally come full circle. Not only have I been so excited to watch my students become independent with their daily materials but the students have now found a new found joy in having the job as mail monitor.
Everyday when students walk into the classroom the first thing students are told to do is to empty their backpacks and bring their notebooks and folders to their mailbox cubbie. Each cubbie has been labeled with their first and last name. During the day I receive many papers that must be sent home with children as well as student work that gets collected over the week. My mail monitors then have the task of putting student work in the appropriately labeled boxes as well as any handouts I receive during the day. Students are so excited to do this job that every day they ask if there are any papers that need to be put in the cubbies.
My students have gotten so much joy and independence from the mailbox center and it has truly become a part of their daily routine.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Adams
Mission: Creating an Independent Learner
Funded Jul 2, 2015First, I just want to take the time out to thank everyone of you for donating to my project. All of your donations have put a smile on my entire classes faces. With your donations I was able to build many stations for student independence. The first being the listening station. This station by far is the students favorite. During center time, students are able to go to the listening center, put headphones on, pick a book with a cd, and follow along. This station is helping my students build reading fluency. Students are also enjoying the dry erase boards. Students are getting the opportunity to use these a couple times a week. They love being able to work independently on them with a task or even with a partner, playing math games or practicing their spelling.
When students first saw the materials every single one of them was excited. They were excited to try them out right then and there. They were also very excited because they knew that they would be able to use these items independently on their own when it was time. It has made work time more exciting for them and they stay engaged the entire time. I know these materials are extremely important for their learning and many times students will ask for them even when we are doing a different task.
I am still working on creating independent learners, where it is less teacher driven and more driven by the students. I have taken large steps into this direction. I will continue to push for this independence through the use of the materials we have received as well as for further projects to come. Unfortunately, the mailbox center is still in the making for a next project but it will happen.
Thank you all again and I couldn't have done this for my class if it weren't for all of your donations.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Adams
