Breathing in Less Anxiety
Funded Aug 13, 2020The HEPA filter is great in its help to filter the air that my students and I breathe in during in person learning. It helps to keeps us safe both physically and mentally by reducing the anxiety for us all. The students welcomed having the filter present and have learned how it is helpful. The were happy to have the filter and were very thankful. Our next steps are just to continue to use the filter as the year continues on and as we continue to contend with school closures or interruptions.”

Grammar, Vocabulary, and Comprehension Go Hand in Hand
Funded Dec 4, 2009Please accept my sincere thanks for your generous donations to this project. My students have been tremendously excited about having these materials in our classroom. The Listen and Learn Phonics center has been a great help to some of my struggling readers in assisting them to develop their phonemic awareness abilities. The reading teaching centers have assisted my students in learning several key reading strategies such as drawing conclusions and identifying the main idea. The bingo games have helped them to learn grammar, capitalization, and punctuation rules in a fun way. Lastly, we have not yet had an opportunity to use the fluency activity books but I am excited to introduce these activities to them in the coming weeks.
The impact of your gift will extend much further than my classroom as my students develop into critical thinkers and learners. Again, I thank you for your generosity.”

Musical Performances and Assemblies
Funded Mar 23, 2009This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to our school community. The riser that you donated has helped our choir, The Ryer Avenue Elementary Voices in Harmony, provide a musical outlet to many of our students and bring pride and joy to our school community through song. We have been using the riser to rehearse and perform before our school community.
As with many New York City public schools, funding for the arts is limited. As such, several teachers and I have volunteered some of our time and have worked alongside our principal to provide this afterschool program which is open to all students. There is great enthusiasm among our students in this program which we try to encourage and maintain. Your donation has offered more encouragement. It has also helped us look and feel more organized during our performances.
Without your donation, it would have been very difficult to allow all of our students to participate in our performances due to a lack of room. Thank you for your time and consideration.
