Engaging Multisensory Pathways & Embracing Dyslexia

Funded Jul 4, 2016

My students and I cannot thank you enough for your support. Almost daily, my students utilize the 3-D letters to identify sounds, spell words, and sequence the alphabet. The foam letters are also a wonderful addition to our tactile learning resources. I must admit, I think our favorite item is the Hear Myself Sound Phones. We use these every week to hear exactly how each of the sounds truly sound. It provides a great sense of self awareness as they learn new sounds. Just today, one of my kindergarten students made a sound incorrectly and immediately caught the mistake using the Hear Myself Sound Phone and self corrected the sound.

My students were so excited to all of the new materials. They really enjoyed the "magic" pens and the gel boards. I love that they have to use their finger to erase the letter as it provides an additional opportunity to trace the letter while saying the name and sound with no dirty residue on their little hands. The Sound It Out Word Stretchers have been amazing. These really help my students visualize how to stretch the sounds out while they learn how the sounds blend together to make words. I now see my students using their hands to stretch out the sounds when they are struggling to blend a new word.

By providing us with these materials, you have enabled my students to experience growth and learn new skills they can build on throughout their educational endeavors.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Conway
