• Help Us Keep Our Tigers' Cool and Hydrated! Part 2.

  Thank you for funding my "Help Us Keep Our Tigers' Cool and Hydrated! Part 2" project request. This 30-inch high-velocity fan is used for my students' teams' sports outdoors and all other activities we have on hot and humid days. Students and teachers alike find themselves under the P.E. shed to cool out and there are many hot days in Miami, Florida. Thank you for giving us this much-needed fan. We truly appreciate your support for public schools and my PE program. This year, there were zero incidents in terms of dehydration, fainting or students overwhelmed by the outdoor heat. • Accessories Desperately Needed for Our Tigers Sports Teams' Marching Band!

  Thank you for funding this marching band project. Getting the team off the ground had its challenges as this was and still is very new to the PE department. Our main challenge was getting the younger students fitted and comfortable enough to march while carrying the instruments. Thanks to you, we were able to use straps for two of our heavier drums, much to the delight of the snare drum players.

  The extra drum sticks allow us to have multiple practice groups and less rotations, which means that drills are learned faster and more efficiently. Your generosity has helped us in many ways and we are truly grateful for your support of public schools.”

• Tigers Are Strapping Up and Sticking Out!

  Thank you for supporting my P.E. classroom and this "Tigers are strapping up and sticking out!" project request. We really needed drum straps as the harnesses were too heavy for the smaller students to carry and we had to improvise with stools, tables, and upside-down chairs.

  We started marching band rehearsals this week and we were pleased to see our third-graders strapping up and practicing with the older students. We were able to have two hours of practice with complaints because the drums were not too heavy as they were last school year.

  The tenor/quads drumsticks came just in time for this week's practice sessions and the straps are going to be lighter and ideal for future performances. Thanks to you, no one will feel left out of the marching band.”

• Chalk It Up on the PE Court!

  Thank you for coming out in support of my "Chalk It Up on the PE Court!" project request. Some of my students never laid eyes on a chalkboard until this week and the responses were priceless! We have already started in-house competitions, mainly basketball and girls' versus boys events.

  Students are learning how to count, keep track and tally without even realizing that they are building math computation skills.

  Soon, we will be having hygiene and fitness lessons out on the P.E. court and the students will take turns illustrating on the chalkboard. Thank you for helping the PE department find ways that are relatively new to our students to learn and grow. We truly appreciate all that you do for public school programs.”

• Doubling Up On Quads For Our Team!

  I cannot begin to describe the positive impact your generous donations have made. Since we received the set of tenor quads, my young musicians feel as though they have been promoted.

  They have performed three upcoming performances in the next two months around the community, and are visibly more confident about how they as a marching percussion band sound. Their facial expressions show pride, enthusiasm and self-worth, as no longer do they have to play patched-up instruments when they perform outdoors.

• Storage Carts Needed for Our Team Uniforms and Gear!

  We truly appreciate your generosity in funding our "Storage Carts Needed for Our Team Uniforms and Gear!" project. The storage draws are perfect for the uniforms we have received and everything is now being labeled, sectioned and classified. Together with our PTA support, my PE storage room is finally getting the much-needed makeover it deserves. We even found tights and shorts that we thought were lost or stolen.

• Getting Our Cheerleading Team Fitted!

  Thank you for funding our cheerleading team's uniforms project request. The smaller and larger-sized outfits are going to allow students who did not participate in the last event. Although the bottoms still run a little big, too big is a fit as we can adjust accordingly. The tops, however, were perfect and now we can fit all the girls that are currently on the cheerleading team.

  The set of twelve bows match the uniforms, so now we will get another set of twelve so all will have the same hair accessories. The tights have not been physically fitted as yet but from taking them out of the packaging, they seem like they will be perfect for our girls.

• Tigers Need Black and Silver Bottoms for Our Team!

  Thank you for the uniforms! We just received the matching black and silver Tiger T-shirts and the kids are ready to go! The shirts and bottoms were such a hit that our staff has ordered matching shirts.

  Our children look sharp in their matching marching band uniforms and are going to be the envy of neighboring schools and our feeder pattern schools, thanks to your kindness and generosity. Our first event is the pep rally at the end of March. The children are rehearsing and are excited. We cannot thank you enough.”

• Teaming Up With the Beat of a Drum Part 2.

  Thank you for funding our drum project. The last set of drums arrived last week and we finally assembled all of them today. Between our PE and Music Departments, we now have seven sets of percussion instruments, which means that we are successfully on our way to meeting our ideal goal. Donors like you have brought us from zero to having our first very first marching band.

  Our first team event is coming up in late March and everyone is waiting in great anticipation to hear those percussionists play their hearts out. The first practice session was pretty noisy but by the end of the second hour, we had an impressive end product in terms of dynamics. We are eternally grateful for your support.”
