My students will be studying the Neponset River Watershed as part of their AP Environmental and Biology class. We wish to do a long term study measuring the water quality and soil of a natural resource that is located in our city. Each Vernier sensor measures a different parameter that is used by environmental scientists to study the overall water quality (pH, temperature, salinity, and turbidity) as they change throughout the school year. This work will then be used to drive student research projects and then presented at the end of the year.
By donating to this project, my students will be able to collect data and analyze water and soil quality of natural resources throughout the city and advocate for changes to improve the water quality. Having engaging and complicated studies of a real world issue that matters to my students is incredibly important to preparing my students for college and potentially a STEM career.
