I teach Literacy classes to students who struggle with reading. I would love my students to be closer to their grade level in reading and to enjoy reading. Some of the things I requested will help them be successful in my classroom. The students I work with have difficulty staying focused and difficulty in most academic classes. Reading is an integral part of education and these students recognize that they are not at the same level as their peers. Some have almost given up. Others continue to try but have hard days in their classes. Most of these students want to be successful but feel like failures. The school that I work at is a diverse school with many different types of learners. We are in a small area and many of our students live in moderate to severe poverty. We have a great staff who want the best for the students. The staff works many extra hours to help these students.
