Resources for Middle Grade Library Patrons

Thank you so much for providing my classroom with resources to support Independent choice time for students in Library class. Throughout the year, when students complete work early and have at least 10-minutes they have the option to access the resources you helped to provide. In the beginning of the year we worked on building stamina for independent reading. Students were told that after independently reading for at least half of our class time together they may choose a game or activity from the front desk. For weeks it was typical to see students playing Uno, Connect 4, Chess, or checkers. They worked together on puzzles or independently chose to color in one of our books. These activities gave students the opportunity to relax, work together and play games appropriately with their peers.

At present students are studying banned books or issues around copyright and fair use. Today was a day when 2 classes of students were able to complete their assigned work and had opportunity to use our materials for "choice" time. More than 3/4 of the students in each class chose to access our materials that you helped to provide.
