  • A Photo is Worth a Thousand Words

    Funded Sep 12, 2014

Thank you so much for your generosity to my students. All of us are very excited to have multiple digital cameras with memory cards in the art room.

The students have already started using the cameras to photograph temporary artworks that they build in their Architecture Studio. It is fun to watch them get the shot lined up, take the photo and then decide if it turned out the way they wanted it to or not.

They have begun learning how to set up their photo, delete any photos that don't work for them and re-shoot when necessary- and these are the kindergartners!

Again, many thanks from me and all of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tavares

  • Paint, Please!

    Funded Oct 29, 2013

The students are so excited having such a variety of paint in our art room. They have so many choices in type of paint and color, they have had a difficult time beginning!

With the large quantity of paint that was given to our classroom, along with the pumps for the bottles, the students have been able to use any color they choose, mix colors to create new ones and now with pumps in all of the bottles, there is more control of how much paint is being used, so there is much less waste. Our paint will last a very long time! The students are now able to get their own paint, whereas before, they could not, due to the weight of the bottles. This allows for more freedom for the children and more time for me to work with students on their projects.

The classes have already begun glazing their ceramic projects and we will be working on some international art later this year.

Your generosity has made all of this possible and we are very grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tavares

  • 21st Century Art Room

    Funded Sep 14, 2013

The students are so excited to have new technology in our art room. They love getting their new Samsung tablets out to do research, create art and learn new things!

The tablets are always out for the children to work with. They have learned how to use them when they need to do research on an artist or look up a particular image. They are now learning how to use the tablets to edit their own artwork. They are practicing with the built in cameras to take photos of art that they have created. From there, they are using apps that I have downloaded to manipulate their art.

Later this year, I have a variety of projects planned that incorporate the tablets... and I am very excited to get started! This product has allowed me to put current technology in to action and to teach art objectives in a new and exciting way. The students are eager for more!”

    With gratitude,

  • Larger Than Life

    Funded Dec 31, 2012

We have received our document camera in the art room and have already begun using it for classroom demonstrations.

It is amazing how much of a difference it makes when every student in the room can see your step-by-step directions. Everyone is engaged in the learning process, there is more participation, the students are excited about working on their projects and they now have a clearer idea of what needs to be done, since they can now see every step that was shown to them.

I am looking forward to posting short demonstration videos to my classroom blog so that students can view them after class or at home.

The possibilities are endless and it is all thanks to your generosity!

Again, thank you, thank you and thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tavares

  • Markers, Markers, and More Markers!!!

    Funded Oct 16, 2012

Thank you so much for helping our art room purchase a large supply of Sharpie markers.

Your generosity has already benefited my entire 2nd and 5th grades, with more grade levels to come! They have been busy working on a variety of beautiful projects using the supplies that you helped us purchase and we have plans on doing many more!

With the budget cuts that everyone faces in the education world, you always worry about cutting on quality. Thanks to you, we did not need to do that. We were able to buy the highest quality materials with which to create our artistic masterpieces.

My students and I thank you many times over!”

    With gratitude,

  • Printing Like An Artist

    Funded Dec 28, 2010

Words cannot describe the excitement we are experiencing in our art room with our new color printer. The students are already working on computer-generated projects and anticipating printing them out to take home to their parents!

Your generosity in giving to my project is appreciated by my students and myself. We will be able to use this printer on multiple projects and with every grade level. It will touch the art of over 700 students every year.

Again, thank you so much for keeping our art vibrant!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tavares
