My students range from poverty level to middle class. They are all very hard working students who deserve to be able to succeed in life. I truly believe that it is a necessity to be able to read and comprehend what has been read. My school promotes reading through the Reading Rangers program. This program utilizes the Accelerated Reader program to increase reading comprehension and their engaged time in reading. The students are excited to read and to graduate through the reading levels. In 12 years of teaching I haven't seen my students so eager to get new books in their hands. In the beginning of the year I poled my classroom and 70% disliked reading. Recently I repoled my class and I have 100% of my students who like to read! When I told them I was going to try to get us more books they became so excited!
