I teach in a culturally diverse city (48% white, 52% black and Hispanic) where many students don't have access to books. Our school has limited technology. There are NO Ipads or computers in our classrooms. Students are always excited when I use technology in my classroom. We were identified as an at-risk school; students were not meeting the reading and math requirements. Recently, through our teaching efforts, we have raised the reading and writing scores. It's critical to get kids involved by capturing their attention and motivating them. Technology is one way we can do this.
