When I first meet my students I ask them why are they here and what do they want from our school. The answer I hear repeatedly is I just want someone to give me chance, someone to have faith in me. My students have been overlooked and tossed to the curb, not only by our education system but also by their families. My students have goals and have the potential to be make a difference. They are faced with numerous obstacles. One thing that I feel that I can help with, that is holding them back is the lack of resources and tools that they need to be successful. Most of my students do not have access to a computer. I see them struggling to apply to colleges and writing college essay on their phones. Which are not equipped to format correctly or check for grammatical errors. They are being hindered to reach their goals because of not having the resources they need to be successful.
