  • Creating a Calming Classroom Environment

    Funded Sep 5, 2024

The look on my KinderStars faces when they walked in the room was priceless. The clouds created an environment of beauty and calmness.

Since the light covers reduce the brightness in the classroom, we can now leave the lights on without the strain on the students eyes.

When we do our breathing exercises to calm our bodies down, the students love to find a position that allows them to look at the ceiling and feel like they are floating in the sky. This, along with the beautiful scents coming from our new diffuser have made my classroom the most desirable room to come into to feel calm and relaxed!

Thanks for helping me create this beautiful environment for my students to learn in.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zacharis

  • Stem = We Are KinderStar Engineers!

    Funded Nov 15, 2023

Their little engineer hands, creative minds and the use of STEM vocabuary fills my classroom everytime we use all the STEM resources you have helped me provide for my students!

Buidling with the blocks allows them to problem solve. The use of the different manipulatives allows them to explore and create. The marble run game is the most popular as they follow the different maze suggestions to get the marble to roll out into the cup at the end. This resource in particular, inspired some of my students to create their own life size marble run in the hallway by using paper towel/toilet paper rolls taped to the wall and trying to get their pom-pom to come out the bottom tube!

Thank you again for helping to bring learning in a fun and creative way into K328 with my engineer superstars!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zacharis

  • Keeping it Clean!

    Funded Oct 8, 2023

Our meeting area rug has never been cleaner and smelled so fresh!

We use our rug several times throughout the day. My students love how vibrant the colors now look on our rug and the febreeze spray makes it smell so fresh.

The fact that the vacuum is wireless makes it so easy to clean our classroom floor as well. We charge it everyday in the front of the room and the student monitors always remind me before we leave that it's time to clean.

My students are always eager to help me vacuum at the end of the day and ask me to add the "perfume" spray to make it smell nice!

Thank you for our classroom cleaning supplies!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zacharis

  • The Love of Music and Movement

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Wow! This new CD player in our classroom is amazing!

Teaching through music, songs and movement has always helped all my students learn academically, as well as socially.

Throughout the difficuly COVID pandemic years I have also introduced my students to the importance of calming instrumental music and yoga to get in touch with their feelings.

This amazing CD player has given my Kindergarten students the ability to have music incoportated into their entire learning day!

We use it all day long ... classical music during our wiriting workshop, movement music breaks inbetween our lessons, calming music after lunch to recharge our bodies for our afternoon learning,..

Thanks again for bringing music into K328!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zacharis

  • The Gift of Gathering

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

This beautiful rug adds so much to our classroom. It not only gives it a warm welcoming feel but it has been utilized ina variety of ways.

We use it for our "Meet Up" Monday gathering as we sit in a circle to greet each other in a different language every Monday morning and share our weekend activities.

We use it for "High and Lows" on Friday to share our feelings about the week.

We use it during "Reading Workshop" to read on it as we sit back to back or side by side with our reading buddies.

We also use it for our Fundations Phonics program - students get to stand on a colorful letter and name the letter, the sound, a word that begins with the letter or sing a song about the letter.

This rug has brought us so much joy in K 328 !

Thanks for making this possible !”

    Mrs. Zacharis

  • Once upon a STEM .... Fairtytale

    Funded Jul 22, 2022

Wow! These fairy tale STEM boxes have become the most popular center time in our class. My little Kindergarten engineers re-tell the stories as they use their creative skills to build and create!

They use their scary troll character voice as they build the bridge. They love to "trip trap" across their bridge as a billy goat.

They also love to act like the big bad wolf and try to blow the house they created down. Their faces of success are fun to watch when their houses remain strong and solid!

Thanks again for making these learning centers come to life in my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zacharis

  • Super Readers

    Funded Oct 27, 2021

My K-328 Super Readers are truly enjoying their Guided Reading Leveled books. They love sitting in their reading circles and reading the books with their peers.

These books have vibrant colors, fun characters and are the perfect size for their little hands as they turn the pages.

Each guided reading box has a choice of fiction and non fiction books!

Having multiple copies of the same book also allows my super readers to have great "book talk" discussions after they read together.

Thanks you for helping me give my kindergarteners another reason to LOVE reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zacharis

  • Let's "STEM" into a New School Year!

    Funded Sep 22, 2021

Our class STEM project centers brought a huge excitement and smile to all our K328 Engineers! We use them as part of our morning centers and get to work with our partners to build and create together.

These kits have taught the students how to think critically and creatively. Whether building cars, houses or bridges they are enthusiastically going to the centers, sharing their building materials and having fun through learning.

Thank you for giving this amazing learning opportunity to my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zacharis

  • Kinderfun Through COVID-19! A Project From Mrs. Zacharis

    Funded May 26, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations. These supplies helped each child individually start their Kindergarten year. Since we are not able to have a community bin and share supplies this school year, it was important for each student to have their own supplies.

They have developed a sense of responsibility by keeping their supplies all together in their own desk.

They love to take out their pencil boxes and get ready for their class activities.

Thanks again for helping to make our new school year manageable during this COVID pandemic.

    K328 is very lucky !”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zacharis

  • Sitting Safely in Kindergarten Through COVID-19

    Funded Jun 23, 2020

These adorable and colorful seat sacks have allowed my students to have their own personal and organized space!

They can use them to store their folders or a favorite book they want to read.

Our own individual chairs have become a special and unique place in K328!

This is the first year that my Kindergarten room is using separate desks for each student and these seat sacks made the room look and feel so much more welcoming when they walked in!

Thank you so much for providing these seat sacks for my KINDERSTARS to use this school year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zacharis

My kindergarten students are inquisitive, creative and eager to learn. There are 22 students in my inclusion class, 11 boys and 11 girls. Of the 22 there are 7 special education students integrated into our class. When you enter our room no one can differentiate between those students with special needs and those without. They help each other, work as a team and learn at an early age to accept people for who they are.
