Preschoolers Need Access to Books and Flannelboard Stories

Funded Nov 7, 2016

Thank you so much for your donations. You made my students' year an unforgettable one!

When I received the email that my classroom project Preschoolers Need Access to Books and Flannel Board Stories had been funded, I was so touched by generous people like you. I immediately started to cry. Since I read the email late at night, I only had my husband to celebrate with me, so I started shouting, "My students will get the book, my class project was funded!" That was such an incredible moment!

Because of your generosity my students with autism and others disabilities will be able to enjoy new books and will listen to flannel board stories. My students love books about trucks, dinosaurs, and classical stories such as The Three Little Pigs. Before your generous donation we had old worn out book that we continuously fixed with clear packaging tape. Since the children are learning to hold books and turn pages properly it is inevitable that they will rip books by accident. We need new books all the time.

Silent reading time is again very exciting; the children are reading (pretending to read) on the carpet during silent reading time, they ask the teachers to read to them, and they are able to listen to stories at the listening center. The students are even reading with a partner and sharing books. The flannel board stories help me summaries a longer stories and allows the students to interact with all the pieces of the story while we sequence it on the board. They take turns telling the stories and help place the characters on the board.

Your generous donation made school fun, you made it possible for my students to enjoy reading new books that are appropriate for their ability levels. We don't have other words but to say THANK YOU for your generous donations! I hope the pictures can do a better job at showing you how much you have impacted my students' lives. We wish you the best.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Perez
