  • Feel the Rhythm

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

I literally screamed with joy with the news that the project got funded. My students were so excited when I told them that we can start having music playing during our class. They were even more excited about the prospect of starting a dance unit. In addition, your donation will help my classroom for years to come and will reach so many students. You are the heroes of giving Tuesday.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G.

  • Table Tennis Quiets the Mind

    Funded Nov 14, 2019

Every day, both during class, lunch and sometimes after school, my students look forward for the opportunity to play Table Tennis. In the past we had to make due with basic wooden paddles that were broken or old. With the new paddles, we have been able to have not only more students participate, but more students learn new and better techniques.

When the box first arrived it was like Christmas morning. They were bright eyed and filled with wonder. The joy at a box filled with fresh, brand new padded paddles was an amazing sight. Within no time they all were able to adapt to the improved paddles and able to improve their table tennis skills. It has helped grow a community that wants to play during lunch and after school. Helping students that have trouble making and maintaining friendships have a common bond.

The improvement in paddles and in turn their skills will also go a long way, as our school community begins to develop students that can become competitive enough to eventually create a team so as to play in the Public School League and compete against other schools.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G.

  • Teach Others While You Teach Yourself

    Funded Nov 9, 2010

Thank you so much for the supplies you have provided. My students have already been able to utilize them enrich their learning experience, their lives, and the lives of their classmates and families. My students made beautifully decorated plates involving healthy eating habits. This included healthy food choices, as well as proper serving sizes for different foods. I have begun hanging the plates around the building and they have been a big success. In today's world, many of our youth are bombarded with advertisements about junk food, fast food and unhealthy drinks. This is one of the biggest problems facing today's youth. With the project you helped create, I have been able to change the some of the eating styles of my students'. I am hoping that they will also be able to influence their friends and family. This will lead to more healthy and happy American children. In conjunction with this project I also learned a few things about my students. Many of my students are very talented artists and even though the project is not about the best looking drawing, I can tell that they enjoyed showing off some of their skills.

Thank you again for being able to provide my students with knowledge that they can not only use throughout their lifetime, but also as a way to improve their lives, as well as the lives of their friends and family. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G.

  • Tennis Anyone? Part 1

    Funded Dec 3, 2009

First of all let me extend my thanks on behalf of myself and my students. It has been a wonderful treat to watch my students engage in tennis lessons and matches. All of my students are recent immigrants and have limited English skills. Although I foster communication between all of my students, it can be limited at times. However, the increased interactions between all the students, as a result of the tennis equipment, have brought new opportunities to them all.

Many of the students have never engaged in any form of tennis before and the experience is very good for them. Not only for trying something new, but trying to express themselves, the equipment and game play in English. Most importantly, the tennis equipment, has given the students an opportunity to engage in a sport that has lifelong possibilities.

Lastly, I have welcomed the opportunity for the students to write thank you letters. As I have stated before all of my students are recent immigrants, and as a result are not that fluent in reading and writing. The opportunity for them to write thank you letters, although very time consuming, was a great chance for the students to practice their English skills in a different setting.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G.
