  • Flexible Seating For Math Groups

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

Thank you very much for your generous donation to support flexible seating for small group learning and ink for the classroom printer. I am able to fit more students around the table during small group learning time. This allows me to reach more students daily then I could before. The students love to squiggle and wiggle while they are working on math problems.

The ink for the classroom printer is used to print colorful anchor charts which the students keep in their math resource folder and use during whole group instruction. The ink is also used to print projects the students create.

I am extremely grateful for your support to my classroom which allows my students the opportunities that would not be available without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Metropoulos

  • Math Mania

    Funded Sep 22, 2024

Thank you very much for your extreme generosity! My students were so excited to play the math games. They couldn't decide which one they wanted to play with first.

The Decimal War card game and Fraction War card game are favorites. The students play them during tutoring before and after school, and they also play at recess! The Multiplication Tower math game reinforces math facts in a fun way, students don't even realize they are learning.

Also, a big thank you for the tissues and disinfecting wipes. With cold season upon us, these are a must in the classroom. My class has already gone through quite a few boxes of tissues.

Your generosity and support to my students are greatly appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Metropoulos

  • Flexible Seating for Optimal Learning

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

It is with extreme gratitude that I want to thank you for your generous donation! My students are very fortunate to have your support throughout the school year.

The whiteboard markers and erasers are used daily during math class. Students use whiteboards, markers, and erasers to calculate math problems. Using whiteboards and markers allow for the students to try and a problem, check their work, and make corrections if necessary. They can use their erasers to erase all of the problem or just a small portion to retry the problem.

The ink is used daily in the classroom printer. The students work on projects and print them in color to display in the classroom and in the hallway. It is always special to them to see their work admired by others in the school.

I appreciate your support in helping my students to do their best!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Metropoulos

  • Math Games for Multiplicaton Mastery

    Funded May 6, 2024

Thank you very much for your generous donation to my classroom!

My students are very excited to use new resources to help with their math fluency.

"Multiplication Splat" quickly became a classroom favorite. The repitition of multiplication facts in an engaging way has helped reinforce number sense. "Splat" is also an activity that the students can play without help from an adult, this gives them a sense of accomplishment and boosts confidence. "Adsumudi Math Game" provides practice with adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division. It is a great review for all of the math disciplines. Ink for the printer keeps the students creating and printing wonderful math work that can be displayed in the classroom.

Thank you again for your support and generosity!”

  • Arts and Crafts for Incredible Students!

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Thank you very much for your generous donation to my project! The students use the new printer to create math projects that are displayed throughout the classroom and hallways. The printer ink allows for color and creativness that brightens the entire room.

The students created "food trucks" for a math project. They calculated the square footage and "bought" equipment to complete the truck. The printer and ink was used to create signage for the outside of the truck. It was also used to create backdrops for the surroundings, and menus so the students could "order lunch".

The possiblities are endless with what the children can create when they have the necessary tools at their disposal.

Thank you again for your generous donation and for you support of my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Metropoulos

  • Math Mania!

    Funded Mar 2, 2024

My students are extremely grateful for the math learning supplies and the selection of PBIS rewards materials.

The students are using the whiteboards and erasers daily to practice their math facts to prepare for MCAS. Solving problems on whiteboads allows for interaction between the teacher and the students. It is easy for them to erase and make corrections instantly.

The math games are a huge hit! Math Blast! is very popular among the students, they love the battle challenges the most. The games helps with mental math in all operations.

Bridge the Gap math practice cards have been extremely helpful in preparing students for MCAS. It is helping to fill in the gaps and build confidence right before testing. Students are chosing their own cards to help with their individualized learning.

PBIS rewards encourage students to do their best, the Mochi squishy toys and light up fidget spinners are class favorites!

I appreciate all of your support, my students are very lucky to have donors like you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Metropoulos

  • Math Mania!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I am extremely grateful for the generous donations you made to my classroom. With your support my students are able to play math games and learn at the same time. Student engagement with the activity is key for them to learn concepts that will stay with them throughout their school years. The multiplication tower game is very popular, they have to solve a math problem before they can pull the math piece. Dominoes is also a favorite, they match a division, fraction, multiplicaiton, or decimal tile to a corresponding tile. The headphones help to quietly do center work while other students are meeting with me.

Thank you for all that you do to help the students at Washington School!”

    With gratitude,

  • Math Class Refresh!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I can't thank you enough for the support you continue to show my classroom. The students are able to expand their math knowledge by using the whiteboards, markers, and dry erasers on a daily basis as they practice their math concepts. The math posters are a huge hit, we call the students "Vanna" as they go to the poster and point out the "key" math words that help them understand what operation is necessary in the word problem. Many times I see their eyes scanning the posters to find the necessary word or phrase.

Indoor recess has become much more fun with the building blocks and board games. The students are building a playground with the blocks. All three classes can't wait to see what equipment has been built to expand the "playground."

I appreciate your generosity and thank you for your support!”

  • Stress and Anxiety Relief for All Students!

    Funded Jul 27, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations that enabled my students to recieve classroom incentives!

The Kids Mochi Squishy stress relievers are a huge hit, the students use them to reduce stress while they are working on math problems.

The Fidget Sensory Poppits are used all day, the kids love to spin them and move the bubble poppit back and forth. When a students begins to lose focus I have them use their poppit to bring them back on task.

The ink cartridges are very much appreciated, I use them to print colored worksheets and to also print work created by the students. The kids love seeing their work displayed in the classroom and in the school hallway.

I am extremely grateful and appreciate your support for my classroom.”

My students are great kids who are often growing up in less than ideal circumstances. Many of my students come from broken homes and they witness violence in their streets. My school has many students living in poverty, a high level of students receive special educations services, and English is not the first language of a large group of students. My class is a mixed group of learners who like to explore different genres of reading. My library consists of books that have been donated, but are outdated and in disrepair. Research shows that if students read daily they are more successful. In order to foster the interest, students need the opportunity to select books which will encourage them to become "hooked on books." This project will allow for meaningful reading by our students, which will ensure their journey to become lifelong learners.
