Sensory Play Time
Funded Aug 24, 2023The students use the materials daily. since we have such a wide range of skills and abilities in our classroom, it has been so nice to have materials for centers. I can work independently with students while other students are engaged in the sensory materials.
One of our main struggles is taking turns. With these amazing materials, we can learn with hands-on materials and can work on turn-taking. These materials have provided so much fun and increased our social skills extensively. Thank you so much for your help and we appreciate all of your support”

Learning to Play Together
Funded Sep 20, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations. My scholars love being able to take a break in the bean bag chairs after completing all of their work. We would eventually love to get more sensory items in our classroom.
As far as the magna tiles, they are such a huge hit. The class loves to work in pairs to create some amazing buildings. The sensory toys have also been a huge hit with our scholars. They love using them to regulate themselves during activities. The games have also really helped with peer socialization and waiting for our turn which is huge help in our futures.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 7 other donors.Let's Get Building
Funded Apr 30, 2018Thank you so much for the large pillows and Lego sets. As the class walked in to the classroom, they were so excited to see the large pillows. They were all trying to sit on them. They were so excited to see the lego sets and to be able to build new ideas and work together as a team.
The pillows are being used daily in our classroom. We use the pillows when we need a sensory break or if we want to curl up and read a good book. We no longer have to sit at our desk in order to read. It has been amazing to see the kids want to go to reading area now instead of dreading it.
We also use the legs to work together. It is a great way to see the students communication and working together (an area they struggle with). Thank you so much.”

Horseshoe Fun
Funded Aug 15, 2017Thank you so much for the Horseshoe table and the color bins. We used both daily and these items have made such a difference in our day. Being in an Autistic Support program, one of our mail focuses is to be able to move around the classroom to different centers and work in small groups which is vital to our success.
We use the table for small group instruction daily. The kids faces were priceless when the table arrived. They were so excited to be able to sit closer to each other during group time and being able to access the interactive whiteboard. The love being able to discuss answers with each other without interrupting other groups. Plus, they have more space to move around the classroom.
The color bins have made the students so much more organized. Each student has a bin in which they keep their independent work folders, computer folders, and homework folders. We also have bins that we use to collect our behavior charts, literacy homework, and math homework. The bins really help the students stay organized.
We are ready to learn and to get prepared for high school. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for these materials, they truly make a difference in our day.”

Chrome Books for Students
Funded Mar 7, 2014With your donations, we have received 1 new Chomebook for our classroom. It has had a tremendous impact on my students and their learning. They were shocked that you cared enough about their education to donate money to get us this wonderful Chromebook for them to use in school. My students are so excited about using the Chromebook that they have a sign up sheet to see who gets to use it daily and take pride in using it.
With the students using this chrome book daily, their reading scores and self esteem are improving. I have a few students who are in the 4th and 5th grades but are only reading on a first grade level. Being able to get the extra practice daily with the chromebook has improved their behavior at school. They are becoming more confident in themselves and their reading abilities. They are now pratcicpating more in the general education classrooms. I have seen so much improvement and hope that if we have another project that you will consider funding us again. Thank you so much for this generous gift.”

Talking And Playing Together
Funded Apr 10, 2009Thank you so much for choosing our classroom to donate materials to. Being an Autistic population in the intercity we don't always get a a lot of new and helpful materials to use within our program. My students have been using the materials every single day. They have been able to increase their reading and social skills. These are students who don't get much and really appreciate what they do get. The materials have been such an asset to our classroom and we will use them for years to come. ”
