  • Comfy and Cozy Meeting Area

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for bringing so much joy to my kindergarten students and our classroom. Your generous donation enabled a beautiful new rug with squares for each special person to sit on, being part of a class community yet maintaining some private space. When the students were greeted with our new rug on the entrance into our classroom for the start of the new year; you could hear squeals and cheers and oh my from these eager 5 year Olds. The rug itself has brought about so much conversation from the different colors, to the talk about the shape of the square. A rug simple in nature so powerful in creating a comfy and cozy area in our classroom.

The students engage on the rug first thing in the morning as we settle in to begin our morning meeting. My students settle in to their spot and sit comfy waiting to engage in our calendar, weather and general how are you feeling today conversations. Our rug allows for us to get our day off in a structured but relaxed setting. As our day progresses students use the rug as a means of participating in our mini-lessons for reading and writing workshop. Students then use the rug to partner read with their reading buddies or to just chill and read by themselves. The rug is the hub of our classroom and it is a place where joy and learning collide daily.

The students will continue to grow as readers and writers so next steps will include watching these amazing five year olds bloom on this rug and leave our comfy and cozy space in ten months ready for first grade as strong readers and writers thanks to the comfy and engaging opportunities that will be provided throughout the year on this wonderful rug.

    Heartfelt thanks for your generosity!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McMahon

  • Cozy and Comfy Meeting Hot Spot for Young Learners

    Funded Aug 6, 2007

As we turn to the thought of a new school year, a teachers mind is always focused on how they can make the classroom environment welcoming and stimulating for all! I am so very happy that the materials for a Comfy and Cozy Classroom has been funded. I can not wait to see the faces of my first grade students when they walk into the classroom and see such a great spot for us to meet and talk about the day and share so many reading experiences. The materials for a Comfy and Cozy Classroom are sure to make make my learning environment dazzle. My sincere thanks for your donation. I can not wait to share my photos of my students joy and excitement with you.

    Regards,

    Sheila ”

  • It's Time to Make Our Own Books!

    Funded Jan 27, 2006

Thank you so much for funding my proposal "It's Time to Make Our Own Books!"

I can assure you that a class of six year-old first grade students will be as energized as myself in participating and watching these books come to life. Your generosity will provide my students with an authentic experience in which they will be able to write and illustrate their own books---and have to share and treasure for a lifetime their own published book. My sincere thanks for giving such an opportunity to my students. We look forward to sharing more with you as time moves on and we embrace the writing and publishing of our books”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McMahon

Eleven years ago, I appealed to the donors choose community for a comfy and cozy rug for my Kindergarten Class and within 2 months you funded my request. Well, eleven years have come and gone and our comfy and cozy rug is on its way out and is not comfy and cozy anymore. This rug provides a safe, relaxing and stimulating spot for 5 year old kindergartners to come together each day, to share what is on their mind, to relax and most of all engage in conversation and learning at its best each and every day in a soft and gentle landing spot.
