My goal this year is to make every moment of my students’ school day enjoyable. I plan of fulfilling this goal by giving my students learning activities that allow them to explore their creativity and movement throughout the day. I also plan on implementing STEM in my daily curriculum. I am in need of materials so my students can explore the world in a way they have never before. Countless children are not exposed to science, technology or engineering whatsoever. Several of my students are ELL students.
Having these materials in our curriculum will allow them to explore possibilities that will forever change their lives. Without these materials, they will most likely never encounter these opportunities in their every day life. A large number of my students’ are new citizens to our country. These students and their families are already faced with a challenging journey of adjusting to their new home; they should not be affected negatively by a difficult adjustment to school. I am employed at a Title 1 school, in which a majority of my students are enrolled in free or reduced lunch programs.
My students are also in need of daily basic school supplies such as: paper, pencils, crayons and glue. A majority of my students cannot afford these necessary school supplies. By allowing them to obtain such supplies, my students will have the capability to perform their best and allow them to become successful. Students are faced with enough difficulties at home, adding the worry of obtaining school supplies is overwhelming and unjust. This year my students will come to school excited and encouraged; all while staying engaged in their learning activities.
