School can be overwhelming for all students with and without disabilities. When a student becomes overwhelmed, they often struggle to calm themselves. Students need a place they can go to calm themselves and learn to self-regulate so they can continue to be successful in their classroom. Many students have difficulty with sensory processing and regulation--what this means is they often are overloaded with sights, sounds, and movement, have difficulty controlling his/her movement to complete a task, and often crave deep input by engaging in activities that are unsafe or inappropriate. The body first has to be regulated and sensory needs met before learning can take place. Your support will help us reach the unique learning needs of our students.
