Busy Hands for Busy Kids
Funded Sep 22, 2017You have no idea how much your generous donation has impacted our classroom. I hope this letter will bring you a little closer to the excitement I see each day with my five year old students.
I brought the box to the room while the students were at lunch, so it would be a huge surprise. They came back into the room like normal, spotted the box, and the buzz was on! They wanted to open it right away. Once I gave the students permission, they tore open the box, and couldn't believe the items inside were just for them!
"These are for us?"
"Are these our new centers?"
"Can we play with all this today?"
Yes, Yes and YES! They asked if I bought them the centers. I told them no. But then, I said, "A bunch of people who believed in them and wanted them to learn bought the centers for them." Their eyes smiled and they said, "Tell them we love them."
I can't tell which center is their favorite...the panda center, which reminds them of the panda they saw at our field trip in November, the robot center, or the earthquake center. Regardless of what they are playing with, they love them all equally.
Thank you, DONORS for your generous love to my students. Your donation has propelled them to the next level.”
With gratitude,

Engineering... Kindergarten Style
Funded Nov 13, 2015When the boxes arrived from Lakeshore, I set them up on the carpet and waited for my kids to come back from music. They were curious and extremely anxious to see what was inside. "Mrs. Box, Mrs. Box, what did you get us?"
I explained to them that the boxes didn't come from me! They did, however, come from a group of special people who cared so much for them, they decided to go shopping for new items for our classroom. I let each group take a box and open it. It was just like Christmas! The squeals! The smiles! The excitement! We went around the room and let each group talk about what was inside their box.
The children were thrilled with the community garages, the maze runners, the science viewers, the castle blocks and the play sticks. Each day of the week, we get out at least one of the activities to use during center time. Many times, they beg me to get all of them out each day! The boys are drawn to the maze runner and the community garages for their endless combinations. I've even seen the maze runner going through the community garages! Genius! These kids are problem solvers.
There's always a line for the science viewers and the castle blocks. To my surprise, the girls are the ones who really love the play sticks. They just build and build with the different colored sticks. "I'm building a new apartment for our city," one little girl says.
Each day when we use the centers, we talk about what it would be like to build certain things and how we would have to prepare for our job if WE were the engineers. The students are constantly teaching me and impressing me with their ingenuity and ability to think outside of the box. I am truly humbled by your giving and your ongoing love for children.”
With gratitude,
