The goal of this project is to provide students that have visual impairments and blindness access to skills necessary to read and write music. This will provide students access to the knowledge necessary for them to enjoy playing music instruments and perhaps pursue music as a vocation. Braille music curricula emphasize the use of keyboards as part of the instructional sequence along with solfege and singing. We forget that students with visual impairments who excel at music still need to know how to independently read and write music, same as their sighted peers.
