Write On 3rd Grade!
Funded Nov 24, 2022Thank you for supporting our 3rd grade word work needs. These resources will help create differentiated centers so that students can practice their power goals and sight words. Our students need this added support to catch up on the learning they missed during the pandemic and it will support their writing as well.”

Kindergarten Is On Fire! Learning and More.
Funded Sep 13, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donation to our school. When schools were shut all of our technology was sent out with the students and was not returned. So starting school in September we were at a loss with how to continue blended learning without the technology. As a school we collaborated on how to build the equity back into our learning environment. We all then put in for devices for our scholars. My specific devices were to support the Kindergarten who had no technology at all.
The impact of this donation is so great. Our Kindergarteners now have access to technology to use when independently reading on myON or when they practice on abcya.com to play word and letter games to reinforce the learning in phonics. They can access Freckle and other math sites to practice there number sense.
Thank you so much for your support. It allows us to broaden the access the scholars have to online blended learning and makes the instruction more equitable and coherent.”

Mindful Journey
Funded Aug 22, 2020I can't thank you enough for your continual contributions to our classroom to support the work we are doing around social emotional learning. The books that you bought for me have been woven into our SEL morning meeting to give students the tools they need to deal with stress and anxiety. Now more than ever our children need to stop and check in and know that they are empowered to set the tone for how their day and life will go. To know a positive attitude and being mindful go a long way when dealing with the stress of covid19 and not being able to see one's friends or go anywhere. Where learning on line feels distant and hard.
Thank you again for your wonderful donation. We are wishing you good health.”

Culturally Diverse Read Alouds
Funded Jul 9, 2020This set of culturally diverse books is the most popular bin in my classroom. Students love to see themselves in the stories and they are illustrated beautifully to reflect different cultures and settings in which the characters live. They are relatable and relevant stories that capture the ideas of acceptance and tolerance. Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom community. We are grateful to have your support and your donation will continue to be used in the years to come. Thank you again.”

Reading myON Way
Funded Nov 20, 2018Thank you so much for your generosity and support with your donation of 15 kindle tablets and headphones. The teachers and scholars were beyond excited to receive such an amazing gift. Our 4th grade ICT and our general ed kindergarten class split the devices and use them daily to access myON, ebooks that support leveled reading and also supports implementing guided reading. Our scholars also use them to independently read ebooks and access learning apps like Freckle (for math) and to research when needed.
We can't thank you enough for making this happen for our scholars. When resources are scarce, a project like this can make all the difference.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Perry and Donna Golkin Family Foundation and 3 other donors.Going Deeper
Funded Nov 24, 2018Thank you so much for the wonderful trade books about Native Americans in New York. These books were received and incorporated into our 4th grade thematic unit. Teachers and students loved the pictures and got a chance to read each book to build their understanding and knowledge about the first New Yorkers and were able to draw conclusions about their history and impact on the state.
Teachers collaborated together to create stations that students would rotate through in order to read for comprehension and ask more questions. This motivated the students to work together and it fostered rich conversations about the topic. The books were also used during guided reading to focus on different reading skills and strategies when reading non-fiction.
We are so grateful for this most generous gift. Students feel like historians and can speak about the topic with confidence and authority. Plus it enabled them to have more to say in their writing. Thank you again for your generous gift.”

Ms. Krumme
