IPad Minis for Kindergarteners Who are Learners for Life
Funded Nov 5, 2015As the saying goes "It takes a village..." I can't thank you enough for your generosity. You have truly impacted my kindergarten students' learning! Thank you all so much for your generous donations to our project for 5 mini iPads! My class received them in November and to say they were excited is an understatement. They are thrilled to have another resource for learning at their fingertips. They literally jump at the opportunity to use them whenever they can. The five iPads this project has funded has added to our technology resources in our classroom. The children have more time using the technology because we have more of it available. They are able to use them independently without or with little assistance from me.
When the iPads arrived, I went to work setting them up and adding apps that will be beneficial to the children. One app the children enjoy is Sight Words. With this app, students learn sight words in a fun and engaging ways. They can play memory, spelling, flashcards, bingo games to master different sight word levels. Another app that the children enjoy playing is Math Bingo. This game is a great example of how the Ipads help with differentiating for the individual needs of the class. Additionally, I have found resources for letter formation practice and enrichment. The children are even using the Internet to research questions they have about topics we are learning about or they are interested in!
The children are beginning to even use the camera and video function. The children found examples of nouns around the class and videoed themselves finding them.
Words cannot express how thankful we are for your support. Thank you again for helping my students! With your help, I have another method of enhancing the learning experience for my students in an authentic way.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Ricupero
