My students are in a "Small School with Big Dreams" and have become like a family over the course of seven or eight years together. That being said, they'll spend over 90 minutes and up to three hours reading and writing with me every day! Because of this, I want to be sure the classroom in which they are learning is flexible and comfortable, so that we can meet each of their diverse needs. Using flexible seating methods will help to ensure our physical classroom is representative of and facilitates the type of learning we will be doing....learning that meets each student where they are at! Whether they are reading, writing, discussing or creating, students will be able to use the stools, pillows, and balance balls to hunker down and get to work. We will also be doing mindfulness work throughout the day, so flexible seating will support this too!
