Making Math More Jolly
Funded Apr 7, 2025Thank you so much for funding this project. I really appreciate you making gum and candy available to my students. We are in the last trimester of the school year and motivation is starting to slide. Gum and candy are the perfect motivators for middle schoolers. Thank you so much for making this happen.”

Funded Feb 5, 2025Thank you so much for your generosity. I am very touched.
I love having little incentives to keep my students engaged and excited about learning. Without you, I would not be able to offer as many choices or reach as many children.
My mindset is always, work hard, play hard. I like to reward children for doing their best and I enjoy making math fun. If it is fun, kids do more and learn more. I have been so impressed with IXL this year. It is our first year using it and it is accessible to all abilities.
I am hoping with the use of IXL and the many incentives you have helped me purchase, my children have amazing math growth this spring. Thank you for helping me incentivize my students to create more learning!”

Funded Nov 13, 2024Thank you so much for investing in my classroom. It has been so rewarding this school year to watch my students learn and get so excited about math. I received a grant over the summer for our team to use IXL.com. IXL is not game based, but skill based. Students work away at math skills that are picked for them based on their NWEA MAP math test scores. This allows me to differentiate instruction for each student.
We use the first 10 minutes of each math class to allow students time to work on these skills. These skills may be below grade level, at grade level, or above grade level.
I have incentives in place for individual goals, class goals, and team goals. Students earn a jibbitz shoe charm bi-weekly for completing 5 lessons in math. The class with the most growth has been given mechanical pencils or gel pens. The students are very motivated by IXL, printing certificates, as well as, all the incentives they are able to earn.
I really appreciate allowing me to make learning fun for my students and thank you for your support. It is making a difference.”

Funded Oct 22, 2024Thank you so much for funding my project. Every week students that have completed 3 or more math lessons they get to pick a shoe charm from my bucket of charms, a mechanical pencil, or Jolly Rancher. The kids have been super excited about earning the incentives. I do believe it has given them some extra motivation to complete lessons. They are also fun to see what the kids pick.
Thank you for letting me be creative with kids and making math fun. I appreciate you funding this project for my students.”

We Are Wired for Zearn and State Testing
Funded Mar 26, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation for my classroom. As a result of your generosity, my students were all given their own pair of wired earbuds to complete both their state Mstep test as well as a digital math program geared to raise test scores.
Students were very excited to have their own pair of earbuds instead of sharing the classroom set of headphones I was given years ago for them to share. My box of headphone are aged and falling apart.
I hope you know how meaningful it is to be able to provide students, especially our children in need, with supplies to be successful in school.
I am deeply touched by your generosity. I will post pictures soon of the supplies donated.”

I Desperately Want More Math Growth
Funded Nov 28, 2023Thank you so much for funding my project. Every Monday, students that have completed 3 or more Zearn math lessons they get to pick a shoe charm from my bucket of charms. The kids have been super excited about earning the charms. I do believe it has given them some extra motivation to complete lessons. They are also fun to see which ones the kids pick. There are so many to choose from. Kids can put them on their Crocs or use the bracelet to hang off their lanyard, or both.
Thank you for letting me be creative with kids and making math fun. I appreciate you funding this project for my students.”

Zearn More Math with Snacks
Funded Nov 9, 2023Thank you so much for helping fund this project. It has been so nice to be able to offer snacks to our students that are staying after school for reading and math intervention. They are really hungry by the end of school and the snack helps us stay on track. I am not sure we would be successful without them. I would have had to pay for them myself.
Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and kindness. I am attaching pictures of the snacks after I unpacked them. I was not able to show the happy faces eating them weekly for privacy reasons.”

Funded Jul 7, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation to my students and myself. With your donation, I have been able to purchase unique and interesting lessons and projects on Teachers Pay Teachers. Each lesson costs between two and ten dollars.
I have a new curriculum to follow this year and I am having to supplement with skills my students need to review or re-teach. I love the freedom of being able to select lessons without thinking about paying for them out of my pocket. Once purchased, I am able to use them forever. Thank you for this freedom. My students enjoy the variety of worksheets and activities and it keeps the engagement and energy positive.
I am very thankful for you.”

Math Should Be Engaging, Just Ask My Husband
Funded Dec 21, 2021Thank you so much for your generosity and funding this project for me. I have written multiple grants on Donors Choose for my students in the past, but this one was super personal. I asked for a gift card to the website, TeachersPayTeachers. I use this website weekly to help me use engaging lessons for my struggling math students.
This is my first year teaching all three grade levels, 6-8th. I teach students that fall into the bottom 30% in math. Many are frustrated and dislike math. I feel like math should be accessible to everyone. I try to find unique and creative ways to get students interested in math and TeachersPayTeachers is where I go for amazing resources.
I appreciate all of you that supported this grant and I will enjoy hunting for engaging lessons each week for my students. Thank you again!”

Funded Sep 24, 2021Thank you so much for your generosity and help funding this project. One of the first questions I hear each Monday is, "Are we getting our stickers today?". Because of this grant, I was able to purchase a variety of vinyl stickers for my students. The stickers are incentives to reward my students for completing their weekly Dreambox lessons.
Dreambox is an adaptive math computer program that teaches my students content at their individual level. Students are asked to complete 5 lessons each week. If they complete their lessons, they are able to pick a sticker out the following week. Majority of my students use them to decorate their Chromebooks. They use them to help identify their school issued Chromebook, as well as, express their unique interests and personalities.
This has been so successful, other teachers in my building are also using vinyl stickers to incentivize and reward our students. Thank you for helping me reward my students!”
