Engaging the Senses: A Journey through Sensory Feedback in Learning
Funded Aug 20, 2024My students were excited when the materials arrived. They helped me open the box and loook through all the stuff. They tried everything we got right away and chose which ones were their favoirtes. They fidgets and sensory toys are helping them remain in their seat and attend to lessons more. They are also great for incentives for them to complete nonpreferred tasks.
Some of the items were no longer available, so we got Feelings Spots book and plushuies that they absolutley love. We alos got 2 fuzzy saucer chairs that the students tlove to sit in for a sensory break and look out the window. The bouncy bands for the chairs, have given my students that enjoy jumping on the trmapoline the bouncy movement in thier chairs and recieve constant input.
All of the materials are being well used and have brought so much into my classroom helping with sensory needs and behaviors. Thank you all for your donations and support for my students and their education!”

Funded Mar 20, 2023My students are enjoying the chewies. With the use of chewies, they have stopped biting erasers, chewy in pencils, markers and/or crayons. When they are getting upset, they will get their chewy and begin chewing on it which has helped calm them down.
The use of the different textures has enabled them to find a chew that suits them best. Some of my students will use them as a fidget as they do not want to chew on it. This has helped them sit quieter and focus more. We are able to utilize these supplies throughout the day to help with coping with feelings.
We again want to thank you for your generosity and in helping my students grow.”

A Space to Calm My Feelings
Funded Aug 20, 2022Thank you again for your generous donations. These resources have not only help my students but other students within the school as well. They have provided a space within my classroom and in another room for a calming space for the kids to work out their emotions and calm themselves down. The sensory areas are open throughout the day. If a students wants to hang there during free time to just play with the sensory toys and bins they are more than welcome.
When I reached the supplies the kids could not wait for me to open the box and explore everything that was in it. They got excited over each item and of course played with them right away. I explained what the items were for and they could not wait to get to the different sensory areas to use them.
I plan to continue to grow my sensory areas to provide students with the correct sensory feedback they are looking for.”

Sitting With Movement
Funded Mar 12, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity! When the packages came, their faces lit up and they couldn't wait for me to open them. Once it started to take them out and put the stools together, they were all asking to sit on it and taking turns. Some students even helps pump the balance balls with me.
My students are loving the our new materials. They are able to sit longer during a lesson due to the wobbly stools and the balance balls. When they need to get movement out they are bouncing on the balls and love to jump on the trampoline. They use the bean bag chairs to sit by the window and paly with blocks or read books.”

Funded May 11, 2021Thank you so much for your support and donations. The students were so excited when the boxes came, we opened them together. They could wait to start building and trying out all the different sensory items. They have made a huge impact with my kids and helping them to socially interact and work on sharing and taking turns. The pop its and other sensory items have helped avoid defiant behaviors and given the students something to work for (once they completed an activity).
My students and myself could not be happier with our new materials and have a fun time working together with them!!!”

ABC's and 1, 2, Please
Funded Nov 29, 2017My students were so excited when the carpet arrived, they could not wait to get it open and sit, lie and play on it. We have been able to use the new carpet in many ways. We have used it to play letter games and the students danced around to find different letters. It has been use to play different math games, number identification and counting. My students participate in Allegro, in which the students do lots of movements and dancing, and not they have the carpet do the activities on and don't have to sit on the cold floor. When we had indoor recess the students could not wait to pull out the toys and sit and play on the carpet. They enjoy being able to have story time sitting on the carpet or lying down and listening to the story instead of having to sit in their hard chairs.
The carpet means so much to my students, assistants and myself. It gives us the opportunity to teach and learn in different ways. Using the carpet to teach incorporates more movement into my class and my students just love it.
Again from the bottom of my heart I cannot thank you all enough for your generosity!”

Funded Dec 20, 2016The printer has allowed us to make colorful flashcards for our students to enable them to learn math facts better. It has made it easier for us to provide activities for our students. The printer has made it easier to complete the necessary paperwork that comes along with being a special education teacher. The students were very excited when the printer came and that we can make copies for them right in the classroom and they have a lesser waiting time. It helps our students to be more successful in completing work when they can see it in colors.”

Knights of the Kidney Table
Funded Sep 14, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for the beautiful table. The kids and teachers were excited when it arrived. They even loved watching it get put together and could not wait to sit at it to do their work. This table has made a huge impact on our teaching and their learning as we are able to provide more small group instruction and easily help each student independently. The students enjoy being able to sit around the table and us teachers being able to see everything they are doing and give positive feedback. They have used the table for small group literacy lessons, math lessons and to complete different arts and craft projects. They even got to decorate a pumpkin for a contest using the table.
Even the speech therapist and occupational therapists have been able to make great use of our new table with the students. They are able to pull them for small groups and the table is perfect for 3 adults and 4 students to sit around and work together. Everyone is able to make great use of this wonderful addition to the classroom.
This table has been a true blessing to our students and their education!! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and forever grateful for your generosity and kindness!”
