Last year I implemented a self check in and check out system. The student's loved the independence but our out-dated technology made it difficult to correctly check the books out. Students in this day and age DO NOT know how to work a mouse. They are accustomed to touchscreen devices that respond on cue. Since they did not know how to work the mouse they often did not click boxes correctly to fix errors and this lead to records at time being incorrect. Touchscreen monitors will assist the students to be more independent and help the media specialist maintain correct records at the same time.
