  • New Year. New Supplies.

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations. My class has had so much fun reading the new books for our classroom library, using the pens and pencils to write about their experiences and helping clean up the classroom has become more fun! Students have asked to bring in their siblings after school and use the time to read to them. Students are reading the new books during their indoor recess days instead of just sitting around. We also have been using the brain games game for the end of the day when all the work is completed and the students earned fun time.

Without your donations this wouldn't be happening in my classroom. Thank you for helping me make young minds stronger.”

  • Chromebooks in Science

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Because of your generous donations mys students now have 4 more computers in the classroom. These computers are allowing them to do independent research and complete their intevertions assigned to them. The interventions in math and reading have been moving their academic levels, making it easier for them to retain their new science information. I'm hoping the invertventions they are completing will show growth when we recieve the state test scores back for this year. Many of the 8th grade students have been using the computers for their high school reseach and planning their routes to their new schools for August. None of this would be possible without your donations.”

  • iPad for Science

    Funded Dec 20, 2021

Thank you so much for funding the iPad for Science project! My students love walking around and rewarding their classmates with dojo points! Class Dojo is our school wide behavior tracker where students can be awarded positive or negative points based on their behavior in classrooms, hallways, assemblies, lunch and recess.

They also have been working in small groups to watch videos on confusing concepts. Individual science topics and research for our STEAM time has become so much easier since the students can sign out the iPad and go directly to work in their groups. There is so much more motivation inside science class now it sometimes amazes me.

I wasn't expecting such a small device to make such a large impact on the way my students learn science and manage their behaviors.”

  • New Science on Wheels!

    Funded May 20, 2021

Thanks you for your generous donations to make my cart needs come true. The new cart has made science come to life in all of my classrooms. Since Covid-19 took education by storm learning the new protocols have been difficult for students and teachers alike. The students are not allowed to move classes so I needed the cart to being all lab supplies with me to the students in 3 other classrooms. The cart has become my science classroom on wheels. The two bottom shelves are used for lab supplies and textbooks. The top shelf is my desk, you will find my computer, clipboard, hallpasses, a plant and writing utensils.

Thank you for making teaching in a pandemic so much easier!”

  • Sustainable Gardening Club

    Funded Apr 6, 2021

Thank you for all of the new gardening resources you have provided my school and community with. We are now able to turn an overgrown almost jungle on the side of or school building into a peaceful place where students and teachers can go to admire nature's beauty. The shovels, rakes, and gloves allowed our older students and many of the adults in the building to do the hard work of removing and cleaning up a lot of the overgrowth. We were able to save plants which were planted in other years and we moved them to special planters in front of the school. Half of this garden space is now a flower garden to help increase pollinators in the areas. The other half is going to be a vegetable garden for the students to get more experience planting, caring for, harvesting and cooking with more vegetables and herbs.

The other part of this project was to increase the color around the school and have all students involved with the improvements. The rocks, paint and paint brushes were used by all K-4 students to design a rock with their name, positive saying or whatever was in their heart at the time. Students also had the opportunity to take rocks home to loved ones and other family members could decorate the rocks as well. There were even staff members who wanted to design and put rocks out representing their class or something that makes them happy.

I wish I had my camera with video recording when I sent students down to the main office to bring up our supplies and then open them there in class together! The excitement only grew when I explained we would be working to beautify the campus and they would have an active hands-on part in what was done and a say in how and when we were going to get it done. Some students ripped open the gloves, put them on, grabbed a shovel and were ready that moment to go outside.

Thank you again for your donation and allowing our school to get these materials. This beautification process is only in the beginning stages especially since it is so late in the school year, but we have made significant progress with the few days we have left. I cannot wait to start a new year in person and have the ECO club up and running from day one. I think the kids even might be more excited that me! Check out the pictures of our new space thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fail

  • Upgrade Our Library

    Funded May 8, 2018

Our donors choose materials were delivered on a rainy day. My students were very upset because they were not permitted outside to have recess, instead they finished eating and came back upstairs with me. We were finishing a science assignment when the boxes were dropped off to our room. My students wanted to open the boxes just out of curiosity (even though the picture was on the outside of the box). We are now doing a team building activity where the assigned groups of students are working together to build the bookcases. As the project unfolds I will be posting pictures! Stay tuned to donorschoose.org to view our adventure!”

  • Art With Our Science!

    Funded Apr 22, 2018

As the multiple boxes from Amazon arrived throughout the day my students were getting more and more excited about what was being delivered. With the 45 minutes of day to go the last box arrived. I put a box on each of the students tables and counted to three. I then told them they were allowed to open their boxes and see what was delivered to us. It was fun to be in the room as the students started calling out what they found in their boxes. We have been working on a robot assignment in science class and the students cannot wait to put the finishing touches on their projects using the new materials.

Thank you for being so generous and helping me spark the love of learning so late into the school year.”

  • Sooth Our State Testing Jitters!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for the new PSSA FinishLine State Test Prep books for my classroom. The students were so excited when we got the call that there were boxes in the office for the classroom that were just delivered. I sent a few students down to bring the boxes up and by the time they came back up they had already had the boxes open. The students came in shouting "we got them, we got them!" The other students in the classroom then started putting their textbooks on the bookshelves as the FinishLine books were handed out. I switched into the new books without any preparation. My students have never been this excited for new books.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

  • Biology Bookshelves

    Funded Dec 4, 2017

I wanted to take the time from this holiday season to thank you for your generous donations to my class. When the bookshelves were delivered my students were so excited to go downstairs and get them from the office. (I'm sure the elevator ride helped with that motivation too.) All of kids were squirming with excitement as their peers carried in the new shelves. Everyone wanted to stop class then and there to put together our newest additions to our classroom. I am going to take the time out of the day today to let the students work in cooperative groups to start building and setting up the bookcases where they want them. This project is going to enable my students to be so much more than just organized like I originally stated in the project essay. My students will also get to work in small groups, practice social skills, mine motor skills, reading directions and get a say in where the shelves should be and why they want them there. Thank you for helping me give my real life experiences! I cannot wait to post the pictures of them working on building and placing the final project!

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

  • We Need Paper!

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

All of the donated paper allowed me to make enough copies of our latest experiment for all of my students to have their own copies of all the questions and worksheets. The students said it was easier to complete the lab because they didn't have to wait for the the five other people in their groups to try and document their observations. "Having my own paper made this lab way more fun" one of my students exclaimed as we were reviewing. Being able to complete the experiment with more independence from their groups gave students more of the hands on and data collection they need to be practicing. Their own copies of the lab enabled students to find the volume and mass of different substances and work one on one with pipettes, graduated cylinders, beakers, meter sticks, scales and calculators.

Thank you for generous donations! The gift of paper has made science class more active for so many more students!”

My students make up the entire population of the middle school floor of our school. As head of the science department for our school having these board games will allow me to help my students as well as other teachers master many academic and social skills. Especially after testing students need to be able to make use their time left in school to build on their academics. I feel that board games can enforce many skills as well as give the students a different setting other than a traditional classroom setting.
