Thank you so much for your generous donation and believing in my classroom. There are not enough words to express my joy and gratitude. My students will be very excited and appreciative to know that they will be using these materials to improve their reading skills on a daily basis.”

  • Whiteboards for Distance Learning

    Funded Oct 4, 2020

Our class uses the whiteboards on a daily basis. Students use it for English Language Arts in both English and Spanish. Whiteboards are essential for their Math lessons and problem solving. Students use it to solve word math problems and to show their work. We also use it to practice penmanship and weekly spelling words. Students also use to show me their response during Guided Practice across the curriculum. It allows students to quickly response and write their work. Students are active participants with the whiteboards.

My students were super surprised and excited to receive new and shinny whiteboards with markers and a mini dry eraser. The couldn't wait to use them to share their work. They jumped for excitement when I opened the box in front of the class. They were also happy to learn that each student would receive their very own personal whiteboard which they could keep in their desk.

My students will be using the whiteboards to show their work for word math problems and share their work with the class or partner. They will also be using it to brainstorm for their writing assignments.”

  • Headphones for Distance Learning

    Funded Sep 21, 2020

This project has helped my students immensely especially during this time, that we are doing distance learning. My students use their headphones during our daily ZOOM Meetings as well as during Asynchronous time.

The students were very excited to received their headphones. They are now able to be engaged in the lessons and hear the class clearer. The headphones help them filter noise so that they may hear each other during distance learning. They are able to stay focused during class.

The great majority of my students wear their headphones during the entire session as well as during Asynchronous time. They have told me that it makes a big difference when they use the headphones. Some student have told me that they use their headphones because their siblings are also doing distance learning and it helps the stay focus.”

    With gratitude,

  • Informational Reading Skills with TIME for KIDS

    Funded Jan 17, 2019

Time for Kids has brought to our class current topics that students are able to discuss and share their ideas. Students were excited to learn about weather. They read about thunderstorms and how to stay safe when they occur. They have also learned about a group that brings kids' stories to life. They have read about how man-made materials are rebuilding coral reefs. In the current events Time for Kids they have read about how two friends started a company to make adventures accessible to everyone. The Content Standards that were addressed are Science and Social Studies.

Reading in our classroom occurs in whole group, small group, and independent setting. Students read the text on their own first to get familiar with the text and the topic. Then they read it with their small group and highlight important details or questions they may have. After we read it with the whole class and discuss the topic. They are able to ask and answer questions about the text.

There is a groups of students that not only shares the text with their peers but take it home and discuss with their parents what they have read. Some get overly excited on a particular topic and do further investigation at our library or online.”

  • Headphones For Our Cause

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous donation in helping our class to receive the headphones we need to help us be successful in reading and math. My students have enjoyed every minute while using their headphones during their computer time. My students were so eager to use them, that we used them as soon as we opened the box.

My students have been progressing consistently with the Lexia Core 5 computer program. This program has helped them achieve some of their reading goals in the class. The headphones allow each student to focus more effectively as well as reduce the noise in the classroom considerably.

We appreciate your generosity immensely. It is a true joy to see their smiling faces when they place comfortable headphones against their ears. You have brought joy to my 22 students and I am extremely grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Preciado
