  Several students are thriving with the new books. One AP English student, initially dreading his independent reading, sought my recommendations. Thanks to your support in expanding my library, he's now excitedly borrowing and discussing books. This is the change: required reading has become joyful reading.

  As a computer science teacher, sharing my love of reading enriches our classroom. Your project enabled me to create a space where students discover the joy of books. Specifically, this project allowed me to build a stronger community of readers among my computer science students. The classroom became more comfortable, filled with books in the back, encouraging casual browsing and discussion.

• Chess & Strategic Games Elective - Part II

  Thank you so much for your generous donation. As the start of the second semester nears, I am really looking forward to teaching a Chess & Strategic Games Class. I am grateful that you are able to help me provide materials to use during this class.

  While chess will be the main focus of the class I am so excited to include other strategic games that will develop other intellectual skills. Mancala was one of my favorite games growing up. I could sit down and play against my friends for hours. I cannot wait to share that passion with my students.

• Chess & Strategic Games Elective - Part I

  Thank you so much for your generous donation. I am absolutely thrilled about this contribution. My colleague, Dorian, and I are eager to begin our Chess and Strategic Games elective in a few weeks. I personally am excited about the class because I know how much I enjoyed playing strategic games growing up. In addition my thesis, which I am completing this year, is on the benefits of strategic games in the classroom. I cannot wait to see my students develop critical thinking skills and social skills while playing games such as chess and backgammon in our elective.

• Tangrams - Engaging Problem Solving Warm Up

• Dice for Probability Games & Experiments

  Thank you for funding my proposal! I am excited at the prospect of being able to use dice next year for my probability unit. Anytime I can make math a hands on learning experience for the kids they learn it better. Manipulatives significantly improve the level of engagement and retention. Because we just started summer vacation, my students will be sending you feedback when we return in the fall.

• Learning Math Through the Game of Set
