Celebrate the Holidays With a Good Book in Our Library!
Funded Feb 21, 2023These wonderful books that you shared with us are going to be excitedley used by our students to learn about different holiday traditions and deepen understanding of holidays they aready observe. These books will be used by a variety of classrooms ranging from pre-K through 8th grades. They will be used as read-aloud texts here in the library and as materials to be checked out from the library as well. The How to Catch a Leprechaun book came just in time for St. Patrick's Day this year and students have already started planning how to make traps and have found patches of shamrocks out on the playground! Thank you so very much for bringing fun, bright and cheerful books related to the holiday to our library for us to read! We will love reading everything!!”

Middle School Historical Adventures in the Library
Funded Jun 18, 2022Thank you so very much for the wonderful books. These books were thought of because of a collaboration between the middle school history teacher and myself, the librarian. We noticed a need in the library collection of books around the topics of Mesoamerica, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, and the American Revolution.
With these new books in the library the middle school history classes will be given research topics. These books will help the students complete these research projects in a wonderful hands on way!
Yet another reason these books are amazing is that this is the first time that students have had an elective class in the library. When these wonderful books came to the library we had to "process" them by putting the traditional barcodes on, spine stickers etc. So, this was the perfect learning opportunity for the student library aides to have the chance to process the books!
Thank you so very much once again for helping so many students learn so many different and wonderful things!”

Funded May 2, 2017My students and I thank you once again from the bottom of my hearts. We love the new easels! We have started a new art unit learning to paint from the beginning. First, we mixed paint to make our own color wheels. Once the students learned to mix their own paints only using primary colors to make the secondary colors they learned about tone by picking a primary color and they added black and white to chance the lightness and darkness of the color. This week we began painting like the masters and will write short biographies. This week's artist was Vincent Van Gogh. We read about him then painted Starry Night (as you see on one of the easels). In weeks to come we will paint like Picasso, Pollack, O'Keeffe, Monet, and others. Each painting will have biography. At the end of the year the students will assemble their own art portfolio. The impact on their learning will be tremendous. They are using multiple modalities to their learning as well as extending their writing and social studies skills. These easels will be used in independent center time for them to use their developing painting skills to great use”

Independent Kinders Seeing New Exciting Learning Centers
Funded May 18, 2012Thank you so much for the funding for this project. Not only do my students thank you from the bottom of their hearts, I do as well. This is just exactly what we needed! This set of hands-on activities allowed my students to connect to science concepts that they were having difficulties with. They are looking forward to using all the centers that will deal with color mixing, the body, plants, weather, the five senses and nutrition.
I work in special education this year. I am always on the look-out for ways to allow my students that truly need a different approach to learning the same concept a special technique that would help them do that. These colorful, fun and interactive activities will allow my group to have the perfect extension to their learning.
Both my students and I once again thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity in your funding of this project. As you can tell from our pictures we haÂÂve already had lots of fun with our first kit! We can noÂÂt wait to use the rest of the centers! Thanks again!”
