My students are students with autism and multiple-disabilities. I have 9 students; 3 verbal and 6 nonverbal. They are a very respectful, enthusiastic, and happy group of boys. They like when I provide them with activities that they can use their senses. However, they have very limited social and academic skills. Their reading level varies from below preschool to 1.4 grade level. I have only one student at 1.4 grade reading level. My students learn mostly through hands-on meaning life skills related activities. They also learn through diverse modes. They want to learn and are very enthusiastic when they master a letter or word. My school is located in a low income city. Its population is mostly African American students. The students want to be able to learn and feel successful.
