  • Purple Hibiscus Please!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Purple Hibiscus! We are so excited to read this book. I l cannot wait to explore the topics of religious extremism, oppression, colonialism, and coming of age because I know my students will have so much to contribute to our discussions. Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to have their very own copy of this book. They love having the ability to annotate in it and I hope they give their family and friends an opportunity to read it so they can continue talking about it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

  • Classroom Accessories

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for the Dustbuster, disposable face masks, and the extra laptop charger! It is so nice to have the ability to keep our classroom clean. Having dust-free and hairball-free charing cords makes everything feel more sanitary. The extra face masks are fantastic! With the Omicron surge, I am so happy to provide students with an extra mask so they can double their protection. Lastly, the extra laptop charger - one for the updated MacBook - has allowed my students to stay "juiced" up and I am so grateful for that. Thank you for all of your support in these trying times. It is so nice to know that people in our community care about our students and their learning.”

  • Charging Station Accessories

    Funded Sep 28, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation. Thanks to you, students are charged up and ready to learn. It is so nice having power adapters and cords to keep devices usable during class, especially when we are relying more and more on those devices. An extra bonus is having the opportunity to get to know students who are no longer in my class because they stop by to get "juiced up" before they head to lunch and then come by again to pick up their device. Thank you again for making a challenging year a lot easier. Stay safe!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

  • Color Printer Please!

    Funded Aug 17, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation of a color printer! We absolutely love it. Having student work and class tasks come alive with colors has been so much fun. We did an introductory project in the beginning of the school year where students had to tell the class about themselves using words and images. It was fun to see some of the projects printed out to display. We have another project coming up where students will have to create political cartoons. They will look great hanging around the classroom and bringing the sometimes dull walls to life! Thank you again.”

  • Student Storage Accessories

    Funded Aug 10, 2021

Thank you so much for the assorted folders, Apple charging cables, and card stock! What a difference each of these items has made in our classroom.

The Apple cords have been the highest in demand and most useful. I feel like a superhero every time a students tell me they cannot do their work because their device has lost power. Teacher to the rescue! I especially like that students who I do not have in class stop by before their lunch to ask of they can "juice up" their device. These cords have expanded our class community.

The folders and the card stock are also great. The folders come in handy when I see a student sorting through papers trying to find the right one for English class and when I have different activities with multiple parts to distribute to different table groupings. Card stock has given new meaning to the phrase "task cards" which I love and you can see in the class photos!”

  • Have A Seat!

    Funded Aug 10, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation of our classroom seating area. Creating a comfortable environment to help students transition from learning at home to learning in the classroom was a priority and your support allowed for me to expand the area I started.

Students are loving the couch. It is perfect for when they need to charge their device and when they want to sit more comfortable while reading. I love watching students sit and do their work as if they were at home or at their favorite hang out spot. I love even more than they use it responsibly - no sleeping on it, only working!

Once again, thank you so much for your support in transitioning to this new year. You have made a challenging situation so much more comfortable for everyone.”

  • We Need Stamped to Stamp Out Racism!

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation. Your support has given me the opportunity to share this incredible book that my students are not only enjoying but clearly valuing. Every one of our class discussions demonstrates their appreciation of finally getting to learn about the history of America that recognizes them, both their contributions and their pain. It is astonishing, yet sad, that so much of what they have read in this book has not appeared anywhere else in their education. The best part of having this book is hearing students say how they cannot wait to give it to their grandmother, brother, or friend to read it next. Thank you so much!”

  • Storage Space for the Classroom Place

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation of what was supposed to be storage lockers. Because of supply shortages we were able to expand the meaning of storage in the classroom!

My students and I are loving the power strips for charging devices and the mini fridge is perfect for keeping beverages nice and cool. The corner book shelf has really given our classroom a homey feel to it and makes tissues and "hanitizer" very accessible. The rolling cabinet is my personal favorite. It stores all of the paperwork for each class which helps keep the classroom neat and organized and it keeps safe the devices of students who do not want to carry it to lunch or gym.

Thank you so much for your support. You have made the transition from remote to in person learning smooth and easy.”

  • Miss, Can You Print This Please?

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation of a laser printer for the classroom! It has been a savior for both myself and my students. At the start of the school year, before all students had working devices, having a printer to print out classwork allowed for all students to have the materials they needed to learn. Additionally, struggling students who needed hard copies of materials were able to get them immediately as opposed to having to wait for my prep period to make copies on the school copy machine. What I enjoy most is printing exemplary student work and displaying it for students to have as reminders and/or 8"x11" badges of honor.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You support has made such a difference in our classroom, especially this year with all of the shifts taking place in education.”

I am a 10th grade English teacher in a New York public high school. All of my students are bright and capable individuals who just need a little more motivation to succeed in school. I have tried a number of different strategies to help make them organized and responsible students but have come to realize that I cannot do it on my own with the resources I have. I hope that Donors Choose can help me overcome this obstacle.
