  • Virtual Collaboration Activities

    Funded Aug 17, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my project! The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card you helped fun will help me get virtual activities for my students to complete and be able to work independently and collaboratively with their peers. It will also help me build up new lessons and generate ideas for activities that I can incorporate into the virtual world. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morton

  • Organization in Mrs. Morton's Class

    Funded Oct 17, 2018

I just want to start by saying thank you so, so much for contributing to my project. The magnetic book shelves and bins have been a great asset to our classroom and are helping us stay organized and look good in the process!

The students are using the magnetic book shelves daily. Once assignments or task are complete, students are welcome to go to the front of the room and grab a book about the current social studies or science content that we are studying. Right now, we are learning about the Ancient Egyptians and they have loved being able to SEE the books inside of digging through a bin to look at them. This also allows more students to get books at once.

Our bins are being used for finished assignments in the three homeroom classes, unfinished assignments, and Tuesday folders. Students know which color they are assigned to and put their work into that bin so it makes it easier for me to enter grades. The lids have been a HUGE help when I take work home with me to grade, the wind doesn't blow the papers out and my kids don't get into the bin and mess up my work!

The students were so excited when they first saw the bright colored bins, as opposed to my dull color bins. Of course, neon colors are so much more fun! They also LOVED the magnetic book shelves and so do all the teachers that see them. I've had at least 5 teachers ask me where I got them from and to share the ordering information.

The next step in my organizing my classroom is to find an alternative for desks. I would really love to get tables in my classroom and more plastic bins to organize large classroom supplies.

Again, thank you so much for blessing my classroom. Your gratitude and your love for my student's education is so appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morton

  • Educational Smart Board Games

    Funded Jan 17, 2016

Thank you so much for your donation towards our Donors Choose project. The students have thoroughly enjoyed playing the Smartboard games in class for remediation and enrichment. We have also used them many times for afterschool remediation and the students BEG to use them! They have been a huge success and not only helping with educational skills, but teamwork and social skills as well as the students have to work together to solve the problems. Thank you again for making such a big impact in our classroom with your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morton

Our school is housed between hayfields and most of our students know how to drive a tractor or spend their afternoons hunting in the fall. We are a small school who grew by 90 students this year when another small school in our county closed. We now have a total of 259 students packed in tight but we're making it work. Our school is made up of all demographics and together we form a family. It's a school where everybody knows everyone's name and most of our students' parents attended HES as children, including myself. We are excited to expand our students' knowledge through flipped classroom and although many parents and some teachers are hesitant, it is such an efficient way of learning and the students absolutely love being able to be more hands-on in the classroom and work with others exploring and discovering. With flipping, we are able to reach students who learn in all sorts of ways and we have seen a rise in our standardized testing scores.
