  • Physical Education Classes Are Finally Back!

    Funded Aug 6, 2021

There are no words to describe how much the students and I appreciate your generous donation to support our PE program. The supplies donated are already being used in full force, and the floor numbers really help us save precious PE time. Prior to the donation, I used little cones, but it was so hard for students to really tell which squad they were in (especially our littles). The cones help our students stay safe on the court and field, as the cones we used in the past blew down all the time. We will be using the scooters soon, and I can only imagine the happiness that will come playing games with them. Finally, the jump rope organizer will truly help us sanitize them efficiently and make using jump ropes a lot easier. Please know that your donation means the world to me, and I cannot thank you enough for supporting us during this very difficult time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tanabe-Clark (TC)

This past year was so difficult for many students, and a huge concern was students not being able to attend a physical education class for a full year. Physical education equipment, such as the Eco Walker numbered spot and square markers to space them out in and outside the classroom will ensure that students can exercise at a safe distance weekly. Funding this year at our school has been cut drastically, so purchasing things such as the Champion Sports Scooter Board was not even considered. Having more equipment to use, like the Tachikara Volley-Lite volleyball and GoSports Strong Skin Foam Dodgeballs will help to decrease the amount of equipment shared. To try to spread students out on the court, the 28" Traffic Safety Cones will be used to create mini stations. In addition, trying to figure out a way to sanitize and organize jump ropes has been a huge challenge at our school. Ropes usually end up in the equipment bag tangled so students rarely give up their recess time to untangle them. By having the jump rope/hoop rack, I will be able to spray the ropes after each class to ensure they are safe for all to use. As a brand new PE teacher, I hope to instill the love of exercising and staying healthy to our K-6 students. We are so excited to finally be able to have outdoor lessons, as majority of the lessons were online last year.
