I have 20 students ages 4 and 5. My students belong to low income family since Pre-K in the county where I teach is an income eligible program meaning no above income students are accepted. Despite of this disadvantage, this is not a hindrance for my students to learn. These kids are active and eager to learn which motivates me to teach and be more creative in teaching and designing lessons. At this point, a lot of them already know their letters and its sound and I can say that they are ready to learn to read.
