  • Empowering Students Through Community Service

    Funded Oct 22, 2024

On behalf of the Student Government , I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous financial support of our school food pantry project. Your contribution has made a significant impact on our ability to address critical challenges faced by families in our community , particularly homelessness and food insecurity.

We are passionate about making a difference in our local community. With the diversity and vibrancy of our city comes a range of unique challenges, and many families in our area face barriers that can hinder their access to essential resources. This project aims to support not only the students within our school but also their families and the broader community. Thanks to your generosity, we are one step closer to providing a reliable food pantry service that will serve as a lifeline for many.

Your financial commitment demonstrates a shared vision for a community where every family has access to basic necessities. We believe this project will have a lasting impact, not just in addressing immediate needs but also in fostering a spirit of unity and support across our city.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Myles

  • Using Photography to Promote Self-Image and Community Support

    Funded Oct 4, 2024

I hope this message finds you well! I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our Donors Choose project, "Using Photography to Protect Self-Image and Community Support."

Thanks to your contribution, our students now have the supplies they need to explore the art of photography. This project empowers them to capture moments of personal achievement, group activities, and the unique aspects of their daily lives. By visually documenting their experiences, students can celebrate their individuality and build a positive self-image.

Your support not only provides essential tools but also fosters creativity, confidence, and a sense of community among our students. We look forward to sharing their incredible photos and stories with you as they embark on this journey of self-expression and growth.

Thank you once again for believing in our students and their potential. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference in their lives!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Myles

My school is located in Trenton-New Jersey's capitol. The students live in economic hardship and for some of them, it is generational. The parents want more for their children but are limited in their abilities to assist them. The daily struggle of meeting basic needs for their family is all consuming for some parents. All of my students struggle with the basic ability to read. They are young (only in first, second or third grade) and already behind their peers in their academic abilities. Some students lack parental support in their studies because the parents have a limited education. Despite all of these challenges, my students come to school and are excited to spend extra time daily to improve their literacy skills. Twice a week they come to school early and work extra so they can learn to read a book. Though they are challenged, they are not discouraged. Instead, they inspire others by their tenacity and excitement to always learn more. Learning to read is a reason to celebrate.
