I teach 7th grade English Language Arts at a public school located in a low-income, rural region of North Carolina. My students vary greatly in terms of ability. I teach an average of 100 students each year, about 25 % are in the Special Education program, 25% are labeled Academically and Intellectually Gifted and the remaining 50% are considered "average" in terms of academic achievement. The learning styles of my students vary greatly as well. I am constantly working to differentiate my instruction and come up with creative and innovative ways to to best suit their individual needs.
