Busy As Bees
Funded Nov 13, 2015Our class has LOVED exploring and building with the Magna Tiles! It is a favorite activity and allows the children to use their imagination over and over through open-ended play.
Through their experience with the Magna Tiles, the children also discovered that other objects could be used to build 3D shapes in a similar way such as cup stacking and toothpicks/marshmallows. They were also found making designs that matched their "structures."
At the end of the school year, our class studied both flat and solid shapes. The Magna Tiles were the perfect example of these shapes in action. They could slide, flip, turn, and connect the sides to build and discover these shapes. Thank you for your donation to our classroom and giving the children a way to learn through play!”

Learn and Play Osmo
Funded Nov 19, 2015Technology is a favorite activity of the Kindergarten students! The Osmo has been a wonderful addition to some of the other computer time choices that are available to the students during center/station time. It allows them to work at their own level and progress at their own pace.
The Osmo offers many different ways for them to learn and play. Tangram's gave them practice with shapes and challenged them to turn, flip, and slide the shapes to create other shapes/ pictures. Osmo Letters gave them time to practice their letter names, sounds, and word building skills. The children especially loved to work with a friend to race and earn points building words. We received Osmo Numbers later in the school year to replace another item and the children also enjoyed time solving simple number equations.
The Learn and Play Osmo station will continue to be a great supplement for many years to come. Thank you again for providing this resource to our Kindergarten classroom!”
