New Furniture for a Better 2023
Funded Jan 13, 2023I am very excited to start this new semester with a new chair and desk at the front of the room where I can organize handouts, student work and have a dedicated space for my laptop. It is not an easy process to secure funding and purchase furniture for my classroom through my site. Thank you so much for your support.”

Let's Print in Color!
Funded Dec 29, 2022I am so grateful for your support! My personal finance students just finished making tax memes and I am so excited to print them in color and post in my classroom windows. I thought the cost of this project would prohibit funding so I am overjoyed to receive the printer when we return from winter break. This is my 13th project funded and every time a project is funded it motivates me to improve my curriculum and lessons. Thanks again for supporting my students.”

Applying Personal Finance Concepts with Board Games
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you for supporting my students and my classroom. These games will be used at the start of next semester and it will be a fun and engaging way to review as we start the new semester. Without your support, I could not afford to bring this project to life.
Happy Holidays!”

Funded Dec 22, 2021Thank you for your generous donation for our project, " Act your Wage!". Last year when we were doing distance-learning the only thing getting me through was knowing we would soon return to in-person classes. When we returned this year I did not anticipate the challenges we would face. Students were accustomed to "zoom" learning and didn't want to engage in classroom discussion, students were tired of using their devices and preferred working on their own. In December, I requested this class set of " Act your Wage!", hoping that playing this game would help to review concepts, build community in the class, let students compete, and most importantly have fun!
The results were incredible, it met all of my expectations. Students beg me to play this game and it was a great way to review concepts. Thank you for supporting my students and allowing me to bring in materials to support their learning.”

An Ergonomical Request
Funded Nov 13, 2020Having a chair on wheels and tall enough for me to sit or stand at a higher table was so important while we were teaching classes on Zoom. The pens and the mat made my distance learning desk official! The process at our school to request items necessary for my classroom is cumbersome. Which is why most teachers just go out and buy what they need with their own money. I say this every time, but without Donors choose I would not be able to make my classroom such a lively, engaged and most importantly caring space. Thank you for choosing to fund classroom projects.”

Blue Light Connection
Funded Sep 23, 2020Last school year was challenging for everyone. When I announced that each of my students could pick up a little gift bag with blue light glasses, it changed their attitude. They were so grateful to use the glasses during our Zoom sessions. Students stayed after class on several occasions to thank me. So with a big grateful heart, I thank you for giving me the means to brighten and lighten their "loads".
I say this every time, but without DonorsChoose I would not be able to make my classroom such a lively, engaged and most importantly caring space. Thank you for choosing to fund projects for teachers.”

TED Talk Essentials: Removing Bluetooth Distraction and Providing Photo Memory
Funded Mar 12, 2020First and foremost, thank you for your generous contribution towards our class project, TED Talk Essentials: Removing Bluetooth Distraction and Providing a Photo Memory. A few weeks after I received the the items, we went to distance learning. However, I look forward to being able to use the cell phone/blue tooth blocking pockets upon our return. AirPod usage and texting in class will remain a distraction once we return to in person instruction.
Last spring, our TED talks were prerecorded by students and submitted. This spring, I hope I will be able to create a TED talk stage and take photos of students during their presentation.
Once again, thank you for supporting my students. There is truly nothing better than having the tools necessary to do your job.”

Mrs. Steiner
TED Talks in U.S. History
Funded Dec 28, 2019First and foremost, thank you for your generous contribution towards our class project, TED Talks in U.S. History. What I didn't know last December was that students would only use the presentation cart for only a few months and the cart would become a saving grace during distance learning, for me. I now use the cart to create an ergonomical work space. I have two monitors and they fit perfectly on the cart. This allows me to see my students on Zoom on one monitor and my presentation materials on the other.
I use the paper filing cabinet every day to organize materials and student work. Gretchen Rubin says, " Outer order leads to inner calm"; the filing cabinet allows my workspace to stay orderly so I can focus on what is important.
While we didn't get to see TED talk presentations in person, I look forward to the moment when we can use the HDMI extender and I can transform my classroom unto a TED talk stage. I often tell my students I use Donors choose. I like to instill in them, if you need something- you have to ask. I feel so fortunate I can use Donors choose to reach out into the community and ask for the tools/ materials necessary to do my job. Thank you for supporting my students.”

Essential Gear For Girls JV Gaucho Soccer
Funded Sep 6, 2016We want to sincerely thank you for your donation to our program. Your donation of the uniforms, corner flags, soccer balls and cones have been in use every season since your donation. It is such a honor for the girls to be playing for their school and I get to see that excitement and honor every year girls choose their uniform for the season.
Without your support, we would have to spend time fundraising rather than focusing on preparing for our season. We feel very fortunate to have such a supportive organization on campus.”

Funded Dec 21, 2018Thank you for funding our project. The following was written by my students:
We are now able to move forward with the project. Everything we received will be used for painting and protecting our design. As of right now, we are preparing to begin the process of painting, and we are excited to see the result. We are endlessly grateful for your contribution to our project. It's people like you who give us the opportunity to have these fun and educational activities like this. After presenting to the administration, the mural has been officially approved and so we are working to finalize our sketch and deciding on the color scheme. We look forward to sharing tour mural with you upon its completion.
