All the News You Need to Know!
Funded Jan 21, 2022Thank you Utah State Office of Education! In a year that has been a roller coaster ride for students and teachers alike, your donation will enable my students to stay current in class and help them to make connections to the world around them.
Many of my students come to our school system as refugees and immigrants. Have current news coming from around the world gives them a sense of time and place.
These magazines will also help their families. It is a wonderful way to reinforce new language skills.
In a time when education is in the news and at times struggling to meet student needs, you made a difference. You supported!

This classroom project was brought to life by Utah State Board of Education and one other donor. The Power of a New Backpack for an ESL Student.
Funded Jun 18, 2015What a difference you have made in the lives of my students. When you come to a new country, don't speak the language, and have to adjust to everything new school can difficult. Knowing that you have the supplies that you need make the difference between fitting in and not.
One of the first things that we do on the first day of school is write a list of the things that you are worried about, the things that you are excited about and what do you need to be successful at school. The list can sometimes be large and sometimes they can make you teary. When you see students write about younger siblings that need a backpack too.
My students took their lists and disclosure statements from other classes and went to the "Mrs. Hunt's School Store." It looked like Christmas morning for many of my students. They were so excited to actually pick out their own supplies and feel ownership. Each student signed a contract to "work" for their supplies they picked by getting good grades and coming to school each day.
I have seen my students confidence grow in giant leaps as they feel a sense of pride in their school work and their ability to take on their classes. You gave them that confidence with your generosity and tender hearts. As a teacher I can't begin to thank you enough for the gift you gave my students. My goal is to prepare them not just for high school but college and life. This gives them a step in the right direction. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Stephanie Hunt
