Our Charter School is a college-preparatory high school in Philadelphia, Pa. Our doors first opened in 2016, hosting grades 9 & 10 and only 5 sports programs. The 2017-18 school year will host grades 9th, 10th, and 11th, while adding 7 more sports programs to our school. Giving students these opportunities to our students is our goal, but not at the expense of safety---and that's where you come in! Our school does not have the funds to hire a full time athletic trainer for all of our events, so our goal is to raise enough money to purchase an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) for our athletic teams. An AED is used to restore the heart's normal rhythm after someone has suffered from sudden cardiac arrest. Having an AED at our athletic events will drastically increase our chances of saving the life of anyone who suffers from sudden cardiac arrest. Using a defibrillator on an individual in cardiac arrest increases his/her survival rate by 60 percent, according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Safety for our student-athletes is our biggest priority. The entire athletic department, coaches and athletic directors, are concussion and cardiac-wise certified each and every year, and the addition of an AED will make our coaches more prepared for emergencies. On behalf of our student-athletes and the staff, we thank you for your generosity and putting our kids first!
