Strength and Confidence Booster!
Funded Jan 28, 2020Your contributions have had an awesome impact on the students at Hazelwood Northwest Middle. Hundreds of students have benefited from the weight bar in their P.E. classes. One of the coolest things that I've seen is the excitement and participation from previously unmotivated students. The weight bar has brought a new element to our P.E. classes, promoting healthy competition among students as well. We've started an ongoing benchpress and deadlift competition where students are recognized for personal and competitive achievements. Students can't get enough. They want a squat rack and another bar next!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Mission Tiger and 9 other donors.Sugar Changed The World
Funded Jul 28, 2019Receiving the news that this project has been fully funded has filled me with joy and excitement for the upcoming school year. I can't wait to share this new learning experience with the incoming students, and I know they are going to be engaged the whole way through. It is all possible through you, the donors, and I cannot thank you all enough. Thank you so much!”

Engaging Books to Encourage Developing Readers
Funded Feb 18, 2019Not only did this novel have students excited to read, but it inspired thoughtful, respectful, and culturally responsive conversations in our classroom. Students tackled deep and heavy societal issues and topics such as police brutality, black on black crime, racial prejudices/stereotypes, Emmett Till, the Black Panthers, interracial relationships, and typical teen experiences both in school and out in the community. Students kept a personal journal throughout the daily reading, engaged in Socratic seminars, and engaged more in this work of literature than I have seen in my 9 years of teaching English. Many students were thrilled and excited when I introduced this as our next unit, even the reluctant and struggling readers. They were just as thankful as I was for all of the generous donors who contributed to this project. The 9th/10th grade students at West High sincerely appreciate and thank DonorsChoose.org and all the private donors who have made this possible!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Bruce
