Snack Time!
Funded Sep 1, 2023Holy Cow!
Where do I start?
I never thought that my tiny classroom at the corner of the west building on our campus would suddenly become the go-to for hungry scholars, but here we are. In addition to adding another incentive to our school rewards program, students know that 'Mr. Ramos' in room 12 has their back. They also know that a generous, selfless, and careless individual out there donated these amazing snacks that they can enjoy before, during, or after a long days work.
Nonetheless, students are already more motivated to do better in order to be rewarded with more snacks. They now that there's availability, but they also know that they must earn it going forward. We have a system at our school where acts of kindness, excellent attendance, no tardies, etc. result in students earning 'Paw Bucks'. They can then exchange these paw bucks for a variety of prizes and/or privileges. I'm honored to be a part of this system to incentivize our young scholars to continue pursuing the best version of themselves.
Thank you so very much for making a difference.
We truly, truly appreciate you.”

Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you so very much for your kindness, selflessness, and generosity. Thanks to you, I have been able to bring my students so much more than I was with my school-issued laptop.
I have been able to see my students more clearly on screen, and I have been having little to no issues utilizing platforms like Nearpod and Peardeck to present my lessons to the students. Unlike before, I don't have a laptop that continually freezes, shuts down, or slows down whenever I attempt to present my slides. It is an absolute GAME CHANGER.
My students always deserved better and I am so grateful for the impact that you've had on them. We all thank you. You are the real heroes in the midst of our school shutdown.”

Funded Sep 16, 2020Wow! It's truly amazing to see something go from nothing to something!
When we first began, all we had was the lofty goal of finally having some kind of iPad availability for our students to use when they need it most. With distance learning, they need it more than ever, and YOU have helped them meet their goals.
I'm proud to know that students are utilizing the growing iPads in our library to continually engage in online learning. Your donation continues to show students that there are people out there who care about their learning, even if they've never seen your face. You've made it possible for them to more actively engage in lessons at home, submit assignments, and help narrow the education gap that has been further widened as a result of this pandemic.
We truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts and give you our word that we will take care of your donation/investment.”

Mr. Ramos

Funded Aug 31, 2020Holy cow! I can't thank you enough for your support, love, generosity, kindness, and willingness to help my brilliant students. We are all so incredibly grateful for you!
As you may be aware, I teach special education, which requires perpetual uses of accommodations to best fit the needs and disabilities of my students. The iPad you so generously funded has provided me the opportunity to give these students multi-dimensional lessons. I'm finally able to use programs and software such as PearDeck and Nearpod to give them the best educational experience distance learning can offer. Before, there was a strong limit to the type of lessons I could provide them.
Although we all miss learning from our own classroom, we understand that we're getting the best opportunity to learn from home thanks to you, our wonderful donors. Thank you for helping us when we need it most. You have truly made a difference.”

Funded Dec 6, 2019Thank you so very much for your generosity! My students and I are incredibly thankful for your donation and support to our classroom!
To be honest, many of my students thought it simply wasn't true knowing that we had an ipad to help with our curriculum, but now they're very excited to realize the reality of their learning environment. Teaching from a low-income school, its very satisfying knowing that my students have access to technology that is so instrumental to their education and 21st century skills. We truly cherish this vital piece to our classroom.
As a class, community, learning environment, and most of all, a family, we thank you for your kindness and look forward to the many opportunities this wonderful donation will present.”

Funded Mar 1, 2019I was fortunate enough to have a high-quality laptop when I first started teaching nearly 5 years ago. It was incredible to be able to meet the needs of my students with such a magnificent machine. I didn't know what to do once it broke down on me earlier this year, but thanks to donorschoose.org and wonderful donors like yourself, I can continue providing the necessary needs to my special-needs students every single day. Thank you so much for what you have given me, the students, and our learning environment. We are ALL grateful.”

Funded Feb 1, 2019THANK YOU so very much. Your generous contributions have helped me reach some of my most at-risk pupils. You have not only given me an invaluable resource to continue pushing students to possess an affinity for reading, but also helping reach those who are hard-of-hearing and have special needs to receive the same educational opportunity as their peers. You've given the gift of an equal educational opportunity.
The students and I are incredibly grateful for your kindness. We thank you all for helping our classroom.”

Funded Dec 28, 2018It is with great pleasure to report that the students are loving their new piece of technology.
The students absolutely LOVE the set of headphones; to the point where they even continually ask if they can take them home. With them, I'm able to have them take math diagnostics without interruption, and I'm able to have them listen to audiobooks without any distractions. They tell me, "Mister, I can't hear anything!" when using them, so its incredibly easy for them to focus on their individual tasks.
One student has admitted to me that he almost never reads. When he has access to audiobooks or the ability to cancel out noise using our headphones, he is especially dedicated to his reading. I have a set of Anna Claybourne books that just sit around; however, this particular student has already read three of them! It's seriously heartwarming to know that students are reading as opposed to being stuck on their phones playing Fortnite.
THANK YOU SO MUCH”

Funded Apr 29, 2015Thank you SO much for your generosity, kindness, and most of all, your selflessness. You have given me the opportunity to further close the gap on the reading levels of my students with learning disabilities. Because of you, they can now listen to the important audiobooks that will help them better understand and comprehend the books we read in class including 'Of Mice & Men' and 'Animal Farm'.
None of my students have ever seen or heard of portable speakers with quality sound. Many of them asked me 'Mister, what is that?' After I told them what it was, they were doubtful in that it would provide enough sound for them to follow alone in there books both in and out of the classroom, but they were very happy with the outcome. It's no longer a problem listening to audiobooks no matter where we go on campus, and as a bonus, we now have sound to accompany the important videos I add to their lesson plans. This Friday we're watching 'Of Mice & Men' the movie which the kids are very excited about!
I very much look forward to continuing the use of this invaluable resource and thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving the gift of an education to my students with disabilities who need it most.”

It's Time to Read, Listen, and Learn!
Funded Feb 4, 2015Thank you SO much for your generosity, kindness, and ultimate selflessness in contributing to making a difference in the lives of the students in my classroom. My students are strictly used to using old, used up textbooks. When my students first saw me open up the boxes, they muttered "Wow!" "New books!" "How much did this cost?" and "Are these for us?" all in excitement. They could not stop asking questions about the books received and the plots of each story. Once student even said, "Mister, I have NEVER used a book in class that was in good condition".
Moreover, although we have yet to read both "Animal Farm" and "Of Mice and Men", my students are developing their literacy skills with the book, "Enrique's Journey". They are discovering the true adversities faced by thousands of immigrants every year just like many of their parents did. While also increasing their literacy skills, they are also getting an in depth look into the life of a courageous young man who is willing to risk all he has to be with his mother in the United States. The rapport established by the book allows the students to gain interest in what they're reading while also covering vital California State Standards in both reading and writing.
Nonetheless, I finally have some books that I can use to relate to the students. Teaching special education, it is important for me to inspire students through the subject matter. 'Of Mice and Men' for instance, will give me the opportunity to show the students of how characters in novels like 'Lenny' also face immense adversities. Real people like 'Enrique' struggle harshly in order to make a better life for themselves, just like my students do every day. Ultimately, it brings me great joy that thanks to your generosity, my classroom contains an imperative aspect of all education, student interest.”
