My students are high energy with a genuine desire to learn and do their best. This is oftentimes overshadowed by challenging behavior brought on by non school environments. My students come from one of the lowest 10% performing schools in California. We have the highest number of absences and suspensions in our district. They live across the street in government funded housing development. Many of their parents have also grown up there and attended this school. In my class, and across campus, we are striving for academic rigor, community involvement, and student engagement. We uphold fairness, pursue the answers to questions posed, and work as a team.
