We have over 350 students within a high poverty school setting. The kids are all elementary grades K-5th. Many of my students are in desperate need of additional supports from the counselor due to severe behavioral concerns, troubled home situations, and/ or socioeconomic needs. We are doing our best to meet their needs, but we do not currently have adequate tools and materials. The materials needed to assist me in developing a more effective program are books related to building strong character and books that will be used for a small library. These books and kits focus on building self esteem, handling emotions, and building self-concept. I have also requested several small rugs that will be used during small group sessions. In order to provide basic services I am in need of these teaching tools for small group and individual counseling sessions.
