Student-Athletes Need Soccer Balls
Funded Sep 17, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations! I am so excited to have a new team set of soccer balls for my athletes. Soccer is a huge sport at Smidt Tech and it is so awesome to see these student athletes active during practice. The new soccer balls have allowed us to do more drills during practice to prepare for our season. With more soccer balls, more athletes can be moving and participating during practice. I can't wait to see what amazing things our teams will do this upcoming season! Go Grey Wolves!!!!”

Funded Aug 26, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation! I am so excited to use my new Apple Pencil and case for my iPad. My new iPad has revolutionized how I can teach in my classroom and having an Apple Pencil to go along with it has allowed for even more successes. It is so cool that I can annotate and write right on my iPad and project it on my screen. Additionally, I use my Apple Pencil to draw on models and student work to create exemplars with my classes. My students have loved to share their work using the Apple Pencil and to project it up for the entire class to see. I have also used the Apple Pencil when working in small groups for targeted instruction with particular groups of students.”

An Apple for a Science Teacher!
Funded Aug 23, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations! It is so exciting to see my lessons come alive with my new iPad! Now I can connect my iPad to my projector via Apple TV and show video clips, powerpoints, pictures, and more! It is really awesome to see my students engage with the content and see how science can be applied to the real world. My students get most excited about watching video clips when I introduce a new concept or phenomena. Additionally I have been able to project assignments and tasks so everyone is on the same page with my expectations. During class, my iPad has allowed me to circulate the classroom while teaching to ensure that all students are accountable and doing their work. I can't imagine teaching wirelessly without my new iPad!”

Funded Aug 24, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation! Your support has provided 20 scientific calculators to my students to use in class and on the many standardized tests that they take. These calculators are critical for completing rigorous AP Chemistry level problems and the math section of the SAT. Additionally, students who struggle with math use these calculators to help support them in Chemistry.
My students are most excited about how easy these calculators are to use compared to the basic four function calculators they were using before. As soon as students walk into AP Chemistry, they grab a calculator along with their other materials to get to work. Many students have even begun to ask to borrow the calculators to take home to complete homework.
I couldn't imagine not having access to calculators in class. They have definitely helped to improve the rigor of my instruction.”

Funded Jan 30, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donation! Your donations helped purchase a class set of calculators that my students use on a daily basis. My students were so excited and honored when the boxes of calculators got delivered to our classroom. They were most shocked that people were invested in their education to provide them with these calculators to help them succeed in science. Some of their responses were, "WOW, people donated money to help OUR classroom?!"
My students use these calculators on a daily basis during their labs and problem sets. Chemistry is a difficult physical science class that incorporates a lot of math and problem solving. Students most recently used the calculators to calculate the amount of energy released in burning Flamin Hot Cheetos and then used that data to calculate the amount of calories that were in the Hot Cheetos. Students then used this data and evidence to argue why their classmates shouldn't be eating these toxic Cheetos for breakfast.
These calculators have given my students the opportunities to feel like true scholars and scientists by giving them the confidence to try harder on more complicated math problems. Additionally, students are using calculators rather than their phones for their calculations which has drastically lowered distractions in the classroom.
My students and I thank you again for your generous donations!”
