I have 23 students in my classroom. Many of them cannot afford books of their own. Having access to books in my classroom creates a means for these students to be able to read each day. They borrow my books and bring them back when they are finished. I need to add to my library informational texts to better meet the reading needs of my low socioeconomic students. My school is a Title I school with many students receiving backpacks with food on the weekend. These students need every availability for nutrition, as food for the mind and as food for the brain. Adding the informational texts to my classroom library would help to meet the need for food for the mind.
